Inventory Accountant

Kforce has a client that is seeking an Inventory Accountant in Media, PA. Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Accountant to support inventory accounting, costing, reconciliations, and financial reporting activities. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate inventory valuation, maintaining inventory-related accounts, supporting month-end close processes, and partnering with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to maintain inventory accuracy and financial integrity. The ideal candidate has strong accounting skills, inventory accounting experience, and a solid understanding of GAAP and inventory controls. Key Responsibilities:

• Inventory Accountant will maintain inventory accounting records and ensure accurate inventory valuation
• Perform monthly inventory reconciliations and investigate inventory variances
• Prepare journal entries related to inventory, cost of goods sold, reserves, and adjustments
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
• Monitor inventory transactions and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
• As an Inventory Accountant, you will analyze inventory balances, inventory movements, and cost trends
• Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Warehouse teams to resolve inventory discrepancies
• Support physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and inventory audits
• Review inventory reserves, obsolescence, and adjustment activity
• Prepare inventory-related reports, schedules, and management analysis
• Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation
• Identify process improvement opportunities to strengthen controls and improve inventory accuracy

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3+ years of accounting experience, including inventory or cost accounting
• Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
• Experience supporting month-end close activities
• Strong understanding of GAAP and inventory accounting principles
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA certification or CPA candidate
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, or similar
• Experience in manufacturing, distribution, retail, or supply chain environments
• Cost accounting experience
• Experience supporting inventory audits and physical inventory counts
