Overview:

The primary function of this position is to record, analyze, and report inventory throughput and volume reconciliations for multiple pipelines and terminals. Responsibilities include monitoring tank and pipeline throughput and inventories, reviewing system receipts, deliveries, transfers, adjustments, and gains and losses on a daily, monthly, and year‑to‑date basis.  The role is also responsible for identifying, analyzing, investigating, and timely reporting to management any variances or accounting discrepancies that may impact company financial results. This position interfaces extensively with internal and external stakeholders, including management, operations, engineering, business development, and customer or shipper personnel. As needed, the role may also provide guidance and training to other members of the department.

Responsibilities:
  • Verify, analyze, and report all product movements; obtain and review daily inventory documentation; enter product movements into the inventory system as required; and complete and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly reports in a timely manner.
  • Analyze and reconcile inventory balances; review gains and losses; investigate variances; and assess product movements for accuracy and accountability in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review the accuracy of documentation and product movements, analyze tank balances and SCADA data, identify and correct undocumented movements, and utilize inventory systems to respond to inquiries.
  • Maintain inventory systems and update system files to reflect contract changes, tank utilization changes, and other required updates, including system configurations within KMPROS, CCI, Galahad, or equivalent product movement systems.
  • Provide timely and accurate inventory and throughput information to accounting and customers.
  • Prepare, review, and distribute monthly variance reports in coordination with management.
  • Respond to requests for product throughput analysis and related operational or financial inquiries.
  • Prepare and submit required weekly, monthly, and annual regulatory and internal reports, including but not limited to EX‑STARS, state tax reporting, composite blending, throughput analysis, production, and EIA reports; distribute reports to customers as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain required documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Provide coverage for other positions within the department as needed and assist with cross‑training efforts.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years in a business, accounting or related position requiring preparation, review, analysis and management of inventory-related data is essential.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with above‑average expertise in Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
  • Ability to accept direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, maintain attention to detail, and comply with established work rules and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing deadlines effectively.
  • Proven problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify issues and develop practical resolutions.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision or guidance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented environment while consistently maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor with coworkers, clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Ability to speak, read, and understand English.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required, with flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry experience in a pipeline/terminal operator products accounting environment.
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent accounting experience.
  • A knowledge of Business Objects, SCADA and GALAHAD is desirable.
  • A knowledge of API measurement standards and procedures is desirable.
  • A knowledge of petroleum pipelines and terminals, including product movement and measurement.

 

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require the ability to remain seated for extended periods while carrying out administrative responsibilities, including document review, computer use, and telephone communication.
