Inventory Clerk I - Manufacturing

Location: Elgin, IL - 60124 Duration: 4+ months Position Summary

The Inventory Analyst is responsible for overseeing daily inventory operations, maintaining optimal stock levels, and ensuring the accuracy of all inventory data and transactions. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical capability, and the ability to collaborate with vendors, technicians, and internal manufacturing teams. The Inventory Analyst ensures that inventory is procured, tracked, documented, and consumed according to company standards and established procedures.

Key Responsibilities Inventory Management & Control
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels to ensure availability while minimizing overstock.
  • Manage procurement of inventory and spare parts through approved vendors.
  • Run weekly inventory reports to identify purchasing requirements and validate needs.
  • Collect, document, monitor, and review inventory data for accuracy and timeliness in the TME system.
  • Audit and update item descriptions, inventory codes, and data within the TME system.
  • Perform receiving duties: verify, inspect, and organize incoming inventory items.
  • Track and analyze inventory discrepancies, including missing items and inaccuracies in records.
Vendor & Supplier Coordination
  • Coordinate with suppliers to schedule timely pickups and deliveries of inventory items.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors to support inventory availability.
  • Work with suppliers to implement kanban systems, optimize delivery cycles, and reduce lead times.
  • Analyze supplier-related inventory transactions and ensure appropriate disposition.
Cross‐Functional Support
  • Collaborate closely with technicians, manufacturing teams, and management to improve efficiency and support production goals.
  • Train employees on inventory accuracy procedures, consumption processes, and TME system usage.
  • Provide technical and operational support related to inventory issues.
Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Analyze inventory statistics to determine product consumption trends, slow‐moving items, and replenishment needs.
  • Investigate root causes of inventory issues and recommend process improvements.
  • Prepare inventory performance reports for leadership review.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma required. Technical degree or some college coursework preferred.
  • Experience: 1–2 years of experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, supply chain, production support, or a related technical field.
Technical Skills:
  • Experience with inventory systems (TME preferred but not required).
  • Ability to understand and document technical product information.
  • Competence in using spreadsheets, data entry tools, and reporting systems.
Soft Skills:
  • Strong organizational and problem‐solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within cross‐functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‐building skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in electronics, manufacturing, technical support, or quality inspection environments.
  • Knowledge of process control, defect analysis, or equipment maintenance workflows.
  • Familiarity with kanban or lean inventory practices.
