Inventory Clerk


Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Clerk to support warehouse, inventory, and laboratory operations. This position is responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, tracking, and shipping a wide variety of industrial materials, chemicals, fuels, lubricants, and laboratory supplies. Inventory sizes range from 2-ounce laboratory specimens to 55-gallondrums, requiring excellent attention to detail and accurate inventory management.

The ideal candidate will have experience with computerized inventory systems, warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, forklift operation, and inventory control while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate computerized inventory management software and databases to track inventory transactions.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for accuracy and condition.
  • Process and maintain shipping and receiving documentation, including bills of lading, packing slips, and receiving records.
  • Stock, organize, and maintain inventory ranging from 2-ounce laboratory samples to55-gallon drums containing chemicals, fuels, lubricants, and industrial products.
  • Prepare products for shipping in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company procedures.
  • Receive, label, store, and track incoming laboratory specimens and specialized inventory.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct routine inventory counts and cycle counts.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Prepare materials for disposal in accordance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Package and prepare hazardous materials and industrial products for shipment.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers, engineers, laboratory personnel, and internal customers regarding inventory availability and material requests.
  • Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to transport inventory throughout the facility.
  • Deliver fuels, lubricants, chemicals, and other materials to designated work areas.
  • Assist with maintaining inventory levels and ordering replacement stock when necessary.
  • Keep warehouse, stockrooms, and storage areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Perform data entry, recordkeeping, and inventory reporting using Microsoft Office and inventory software.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Approximately 2+ years of related inventory, warehouse, shipping/receiving, or materials management experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Experience working with computerized inventory management systems and databases.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain accurate inventory records and documentation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software, inventory procedures, and warehouse processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
  • Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures.
  • Experience handling industrial chemicals, fuels, lubricants, or laboratory materials.
  • Familiarity with DOT shipping regulations.
  • Knowledge of inventory cycle counting and reconciliation.
  • Experience handling hazardous materials.
  • Basic understanding of warehouse safety procedures.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, push, and pull throughout the workday.
  • Operate forklifts and warehouse equipment safely.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions when necessary.
  • Handle inventory ranging from small laboratory containers (2 oz.) to 55-gallon drums.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Work Environment

  • Warehouse and laboratory environment.
  • Exposure to chemicals, fuels, lubricants, industrial products, and laboratory materials.
  • Frequent interaction with warehouse personnel, laboratory staff, engineers, and operations personnel.
  • Safety-sensitive position requiring strict adherence to company safety policies.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Ability to operate company vehicles and forklifts.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment background screening and drug screening.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required site access credentials.
