Job Summary:
The Inventory Control role will be responsible for supporting and optimizing the inventory of steel products across our warehouse or distribution facility. This hands-on position requires a deep understanding of steel product types, handling procedures, and inventory management best practices. The ideal candidate will be proactive, possess strong attention to details, and have experience handling inventory in a fast-paced industrial environment. |

Function in the Job:
Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Job Function:
Inventory Management:
- Track and manage steel products inventory daily, ensuring stock levels meet customer demand while avoiding excess stock or shortages. Perform regular cycle counts and audits of steel products.
Stock Discrepancy Management:
- Perform stock checks in response to discrepancies such as over-rides, can’t finds, resurrected tags, etc.
- Assist in the Can’t Find process to locate missing inventory or resolve stock issues.
- Verify over-rides and ensure appropriate documentation and approvals are in place.
Tagging & Documentation:
- Tag inbound steel material upon receipt, ensuring accurate tracking and recordkeeping.
- Administer the RMA (Return Material Authorization) return process, including inspecting, verifying, and documenting returned steel products.
- Re-tag completed RMA’s and updated inventory record accordingly.
Inventory Adjustments
- Perform inventory adjustments to reflect changes due to discrepancies, returns, or other factors. Ensure timely and accurate adjustments in the inventory management system.
Quality Control & Inspection:
- Inspect Mill Claim material to ensure it meets quality standards and resolve discrepancies or defects.
- Conduct Mis-Handled material inspections to identify and report incorrectly processed materials and assist in corrective actions.
- Placing and removing quality control holds on affected material.
Receiving & Tagging:
- Oversee the receiving process for truck/rail/barge shipments of steel products, ensuring proper documentation, tagging, painting and storage procedures are followed.
Discrepancy Verification:
- Perform verification of inbound steel material, including checking sizes, counts, and specifications against purchase orders, packing lists, and shipments.
Material Corrections:
- Correct mis-cut material in the Eniteo system, ensuring proper adjustments to prevent inventory errors.
Technology & Systems:
- Utilize inventory management systems to manage steel product inventory, generate reports, and track product movements.
- Stay current on system enhancements and inventory management best practices.
Steel-Specific Knowledge:
- Ensure proper storage and safe handling of steel products, considering weight, size, and specific storage conditions.
Required Skills:
- High School diploma or Technical School Degree with appropriate associated skills.
- Knowledge of industrial warehouse techniques and personnel management.
