Inventory Control Clerk Job Description: Location: Kasa Controls – Salina, KS Department: Production Reports To: Production Manager Position Summary: The Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for monitoring, recording, and maintaining accurate inventory to support production and warehouse operations. This role ensures materials are properly received, stored, issued, and tracked within the ERP system to maintain production flow and prevent shortages. It also supports cycle counting, discrepancy resolution, and documentation accuracy to uphold operational efficiency, quality, and traceability standards. Key Responsibilities • Inventory Accuracy & Tracking - Maintain precise material counts through daily transactions and scheduled cycle counts.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in inventory levels, usage, and locations.
- Ensure all material movements (receipts, issues, transfers, adjustments) are accurately entered into the ERP system.
• Receiving & Material Verification - Verify materials received against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Inspect incoming materials for damage, accuracy, and compliance with specifications.
- Work closely with Purchasing and Receiving to resolve inconsistencies.
• Material Handling & Warehouse Support - Assist with put-away, material staging, kanban replenishment, and inventory rotation.
- Maintain organized shelving, labeling, and bin locations to support efficient material flow.
- Follow FIFO/FEFO procedures and ensure traceability of controlled materials.
• Documentation & Reporting - Prepare inventory reports for Production and Purchasing as needed.
- Maintain documentation for audits, traceability, and quality requirements.
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures, safety requirements, and best practices.
• Cross-Functional Coordination - Communicate shortages, overages, and at-risk materials to production teams.
- Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, Engineering, and Warehouse teams to troubleshoot inventory-related issues.
- Support internal audits, NCR investigations, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Safety, 5S & Continuous Improvement - Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Follow all PPE, safety, and handling guidelines.
- Participate in improvement activities to enhance workflow, organization, and quality.
Required Skills & Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in warehouse, inventory control, or material handling roles.
- Strong computer skills, including ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Basic understanding of inventory principles (cycle counts, FIFO, material flow).
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
