Job Overview:
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting cycle count programs, investigating inventory discrepancies, and ensuring inventory integrity across warehouse operations. This role will work closely with Operations, Receiving, Shipping, Production, and Customer Service to resolve inventory issues and improve overall inventory accuracy and process control within the distribution center. This is an on-site hourly position and will require a daily presence at our RectorSeal Earth City, MO facility, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate inventory records within JDE and warehouse systems.
- Perform daily inventory audits, cycle counts, and reconciliation activities.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies involving receiving, shipping, production, and transfers.
- Monitor inventory transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with operational processes.
- Research and resolve inventory issues related to production orders, staging locations, and order fulfillment.
- Support root cause analysis for inventory variances and implement corrective actions.
- Work closely with warehouse leadership to improve inventory processes and controls.
- Assist with inventory adjustments, location audits, and inventory cleanup activities.
- Monitor aged inventory, negative inventory, and location accuracy.
- Support physical inventory processes and inventory reporting.
- Help enforce inventory discipline and transaction accuracy throughout warehouse operations.
- Communicate inventory concerns and operational risks to leadership in a timely manner.
- Assist in developing and improving inventory SOPs and best practices.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
Minimum Requirements:
- 5+ years of inventory control experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment.
- 2+ years order selector experience.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience using JDE (JD Edwards) ERP system.
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as business needs require.
Skills/Competencies:
- Strong understanding of warehouse inventory processes, transactions, and inventory flow.
- Experience with cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and root cause analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and inventory reporting tools.
- Experience in high-volume distribution or manufacturing environments preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting production inventory and manufacturing environments.
- Experience with inventory audits and process improvement initiatives.
- Forklift or warehouse equipment experience is a plus.
- Lean or continuous improvement experience preferred.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a warehouse environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands and fingers to type or dial, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position requires computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
