Job Purpose Statement

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of inventory records through cycle counting, inventory audits, transaction processing, and reconciliation activities. This role supports operational efficiency by ensuring inventory data is accurate, inventory discrepancies are promptly resolved, and warehouse inventory processes are executed in accordance with company standards and procedures.

Position Summary

The Inventory Specialist / Inventory Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records through cycle counting, inventory audits, transaction processing, and inventory reconciliation activities. This position supports daily warehouse operations by ensuring inventory accuracy, processing inventory-related documentation, investigating discrepancies, and maintaining system integrity within the company's ERP system.

The role serves as the primary liaison between warehouse operations, shipping, receiving, purchasing, and production to ensure inventory transactions are completed accurately and timely.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Inventory Control & Cycle Counting

Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts according to established schedules.

Conduct location audits and verify inventory accuracy throughout the warehouse.

Research and resolve inventory discrepancies, shortages, overages, and location errors.

Assist with physical inventory counts and annual inventory audits.

Monitor inventory movement and ensure inventory accuracy standards are maintained.

Investigate root causes of inventory variances and recommend corrective actions.

Inventory Transactions & Record Keeping

Process inventory receipts, transfers, adjustments, returns, and replenishment transactions in ERP system (JD Edwards).

Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure timely system updates.

Verify all inventory transactions are properly documented and recorded.

Review shipping and receiving documentation for accuracy.

Generate and distribute inventory reports as required.

Maintain inventory files, records, and supporting documentation.

Warehouse Support

Coordinate with Shipping, Receiving, Purchasing, and Production teams to resolve inventory issues.

Verify proper product labeling, storage, and inventory location assignments.

Assist with product movement and inventory organization activities as needed.

Ensure inventory is stored according to company procedures and best practices.

Support implementation of inventory control processes and improvements.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement

Follow all company policies, inventory procedures, and safety requirements.

Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and warehouse efficiency.

Assist in developing and maintaining inventory control procedures.

Support compliance with quality standards and audit requirements.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.

Minimum of 1-3 years of inventory control, inventory clerk, warehouse, distribution, or logistics experience preferred.

Experience with ERP , or inventory management systems.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.

Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or warehouse environments.

Experience with cycle counting and inventory auditing processes.

Working knowledge of inventory control principles and best practices.

Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.

Experience with barcode scanning and RF devices.
