Job Summary

The Inventory lead hand is responsible for overseeing all aspects of inventory control, warehouse layout optimization, and the supervision of employees within the inventory group. This role ensures that inventory levels align with production needs while enhancing efficiency in storage, organization, and overall warehouse operations. The Inventory lead hand collaborates with all warehouse staff, purchasing, production, QA, shipping and receiving departments to ensure smooth workflows and cost-effective inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the entire inventory management process, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company policies.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records within the warehouse management system (WMS).

• Conduct and supervise regular cycle counts, physical inventories, and audits to verify stock levels.

• Identify and resolve discrepancies in inventory records, implementing corrective actions to prevent future inaccuracies.

• Optimize warehouse layout and storage organization to maximize space utilization and streamline retrieval processes.

• Manage and align inventory levels to meet production schedules, avoiding overstock or shortages.

• Supervise and support inventory staff in daily inventory tracking and reporting tasks.

• Coordinate with purchasing to ensure the timely reordering of materials and supplies.

• Develop, implement, and refine inventory control procedures and best practices for efficiency and cost reduction.

• Utilize WMS and other technology solutions to monitor trends, track inventory turnover rates, and assess valuation.

• Provide recommendations to warehouse leadership and other departments based on inventory analytics.

• Collaborate with production and shipping teams to ensure seamless inventory flow throughout the manufacturing process.

• Train and mentor warehouse staff on inventory management protocols, technology solutions, and best practices.

• Continuously seek opportunities for improvement in inventory processes, reducing costs, and eliminating material shortages.

• Communicate inventory status, risks, and strategic insights to key stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Proven leadership experience in Logistics, Warehousing, and Manufacturing Environments.

• Strong proficiency with logistics platforms and tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, ERP systems, shipping software like FedEx/Purolator/UPS).

• In-depth knowledge of warehouse and inventory management systems, and ERP platforms.

• Exceptional organizational and leadership skills with strong attention to detail.

• Ability to manage priorities and lead teams effectively in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience negotiating with logistics vendors, carriers, and customs brokers to optimize service and cost.

• Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to customs, transportation, and hazardous materials handling.
