Job Summary
This position is located in the Department of Health (DC Health) within the Health Systems and Preparedness Administration (HSPA), Office of Emergency Preparedness and Resilience (OEPR), Logistics Program. The incumbent candidate for this position will have the unique opportunity serve as member of the public health logistics team supporting emergency response and school health programs within the District. The Inventor Management Specialist within Office of Emergency Preparedness and Resilience (OEPR), will work under the general direction of the Logistics Program Manager to support public health readiness, response, and resilience operations within DC health through supporting the management of emergency response assets and school health supplies.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Incumbent assists in inventory control processes, including ordering, receiving, storing, tracking, and distributing medical and office supplies to health suites and during emergency activations. Applies knowledge of inventory control and storage procedures specific to medical and health-related supplies (e.g. medications, PPE, first aid materials).Applies knowledge of safe forklift operations in accordance with OSHA regulations, including basic knowledge of forklift inspection, preventive maintenance procedures and general operating principles. Utilizes the ability to accurately read and interpret supply labels, inventory logs, safety data sheets (SDS), and related documentation relevant to warehouse operations.
Qualifications and Education
Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.
Licenses and Certifications
Must possess a valid, unrestricted driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
Working Conditions / Environment
The work is performed in varied environments, including warehouses, offices, school buildings, and on the road. The incumbent is regularly exposed to outdoor conditions during delivery tasks and must follow safety practices related to driving, lifting, and handling medical supplies.
