Inventory Management Specialist - Job Description

The Inventory Management Specialist is responsible for overseeing the tracking, organization, and control of inventory to ensure optimal stock levels and efficient operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining accuracy, minimizing shortages or excess inventory, and supporting overall supply chain effectiveness.


Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain accurate records of stock, including incoming and outgoing materials
  • Perform regular inventory audits and cycle counts to ensure data accuracy and identify discrepancies
  • Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams to manage orders, deliveries, and replenishment schedules
  • Analyze inventory data to forecast demand, prevent stockouts, and reduce excess inventory
  • Maintain organized storage systems and ensure proper labeling and handling of inventory items
  • Track and reconcile inventory discrepancies, investigating root causes and implementing corrective actions
  • Utilize inventory management systems and software to update records and generate reports
  • Support purchasing and procurement processes by preparing orders and tracking shipments
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, logistics, and finance teams to support business goals

Qualifications

  • 2-4+ years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain management
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in recordkeeping
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments and manage multiple priorities

Preferred

  • Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems (WMS)
  • Background in distribution, manufacturing, or logistics environments
