DESCRIPTION: This is a classification in the Inventory & Property Management Job Family. Positions in this job family perform inventory and property management actions related to ordering, procuring, storing, distributing, and/or disposing of inventory and/or property. This job family is distinguished by its role in managing public property. This is Complex inventory and property management support services requiring a solid knowledge of inventory and property management principles and techniques. Positions in this classification provide office and administrative support work involving responsibility for inventory operations of a warehouse and/or stockroom. Responsibilities require independent judgment in handling exceptions to established work assignments, priorities, and schedules. REPRESENTATIVE TASKS: Complies with the requirements of State policies, including those concerning human resource components of security protocols of agency information security and confidentiality policies for state business purposes. Verify inventory for conformance to prescribed specifications, and accept or reject accordingly. Test and evaluate sample inventory, as requested. Package and distribute inventory. Oversee and maintain computerized and/or manual inventory control system. Type routine business documents as form letters, memos, vouchers, and summaries from final draft. Write requisitions, purchase orders, and/or contract lease forms. Answer factual inquiries and assist with routine requests. Recommend new or modified storage methods. May lead the work and provide guidance to co-workers on a project or intermittent basis. KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Ability to drive car or light delivery truck may be required. Ability to perform work requiring lifting and/or physical exertion may be required. Knowledge of inventory and storeroom methods and practices. Knowledge of transporting and shipping methods. Knowledge of purchasing and requisition procedures. Ability to use alphabetical, numerical, chronological and secondary filing systems. Ability to type routine business documents from final draft. Ability to effectively give/obtain basic, non-technical information. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to write clearly and effectively. Knowledge of purchasing, bidding, requisition and quantity buying procedures. Ability to determine condition, quality, and quantity of goods. Ability to determine and requisition inventory/supplies. Ability to lead the work and provide guidance to co-workers on a project or intermittent basis. Representative Tasks & KSA's are cumulative across the Inventory and Property Management Job Family. Positions in this classification assume ALL the Distinguishing Characteristics & KSA's of: Inventory and Property Assistant. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Training, education or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of inventory and property management principles to perform complex work in conducting inventory operations for a warehouse or stockroom and 2) the ability to use independent judgment in handling exceptions to established work assignments, priorities and schedules. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Inventory and Property Assistant. LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Some positions may require possession of a valid Class B and/or Class C Maine Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
