JOB SUMMARY

The Inventory Staff Accountant is responsible for managing and monitoring the company's inventory-related financial records, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with accounting standards. This role partners closely with Inventory, Distribution Center, and Retail teams to support inventory-related initiatives and operations. The role requires a strong foundational knowledge of GAAP and the ability to apply accounting principles to daily tasks. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and demonstrates strong communication and collaboration skills when working with cross-functional teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain and monitor inventory-related general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness

  • Prepare and reconcile inventory-related journal entries, accruals, reserves, and balance sheet accounts

  • Execute day-to-day inventory activities, including transfers, adjustments, corrections, and data collection

  • Support quarterly and annual physical inventory counts, researching and resolving variances in partnership with Loss Prevention, store, and distribution center teams

  • Partner with distribution centers, merchandising, and marketing teams on new store openings, sourcing activities, and SKU changes

  • Support interim and year-end audit activities by preparing documentation, addressing auditor inquiries, and ensuring compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies

  • Assist in developing and documenting accounting processes and strengthening internal controls

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support an accurate and timely financial statement close

  • Provide timely and accurate accounting information to internal stakeholders as needed

  • Support cross-functional initiatives related to inventory, distribution centers, and store operations

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required

  • 1-2 years of accounting experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products such as Excel and Word required

  • Knowledge of SAP accounting software, previous working experience preferred

  • Detail oriented, deadline driven, organized individual able to handle multiple tasks while working independently or as part of a team

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Highly motivated to meeting daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines
