Job Summary

The Team Lead, Warehouse is an advanced skilled role responsible for providing day‑to‑day work leadership and operational support within warehouse and distribution operations. This role performs hands‑on warehouse activities while coordinating daily workflow, prioritizing tasks, reinforcing safety and quality standards, and serving as the first point of escalation for warehouse issues.

Role Overview

The Team Lead, Warehouse performs advanced warehouse duties while providing informal leadership and coordination to warehouse associates. The role focuses on shift execution, work assignment, issue resolution, safety reinforcement, and operational readiness, without formal people‑management responsibilities such as performance reviews, hiring, or disciplinary actions.

This position typically reports to a Warehouse Supervisor, Distribution Supervisor, or Operations Manager (M1).

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations Execution

Perform advanced picking, packing, shipping, receiving, and material movement tasks

Support loading, unloading, staging, and inventory control activities

Ensure order accuracy and adherence to shipping schedules

Day‑to‑Day Team Leadership

Coordinate daily work assignments, priorities, and workflow on assigned shifts

Serve as first‑level escalation point for operational or system issues

Reinforce standard operating procedures and productivity expectations

Inventory Accuracy & Control

Support inventory counts, cycle counts, and discrepancy resolution

Monitor material handling practices to prevent loss, damage, or errors

Assist with investigation and correction of inventory variances

Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping

Enforce safety policies, equipment operation standards, and PPE use

Promote safe material handling, forklift operation, and ergonomic practices

Maintain clean, organized, and hazard‑free work areas

Systems & Documentation

Ensure accurate transaction processing in WMS or ERP systems

Validate completion of work orders, shipments, and receipts

Support documentation of inbound, outbound, and inventory activities

Issue Resolution & Cross‑Functional Support

Troubleshoot workflow bottlenecks, order issues, or material shortages

Coordinate with Transportation, Planning, Customer Service, and Procurement teams

Communicate status, issues, and priorities clearly to stakeholders

Training & Knowledge Sharing

Support onboarding and training of new warehouse associates

Provide hands‑on direction and reinforcement of best practices

Serve as a subject‑matter resource for warehouse processes and systems

Continuous Improvement & Readiness

Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency, layout, or workflows

Support implementation of process improvements and standardization

Assist with audits, peak planning, and operational readiness activities

Qualifications

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required

Typically 4-8 years of experience in warehouse, logistics, or distribution operations

Prior experience acting as lead associate or senior warehouse resource preferred

Certifications & Technical Skills (role‑dependent)

Forklift or powered industrial equipment certification required (site‑dependent)

Familiarity with WMS, barcode scanning, RF systems, or inventory tools

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong understanding of warehouse operations and material flow

Ability to balance productivity, accuracy, and safety

Strong attention to detail and organizational discipline

Effective communication and teamwork skills

Ability to lead work through influence rather than authority

Physical ability to perform warehouse tasks
