Job Description

IT Asset Inventory Technician
Dallas, TX | Onsite with Local Travel | Ongoing Contract

iSphere is looking for an IT Asset Inventory Technician to support a North Dallas client with a large-scale technology inventory project expected to last approximately one year.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is organized, dependable, comfortable working independently, and does not mind spending much of the day moving between client facilities throughout the Dallas area. You will be locating technology assets, confirming what is actually onsite, and accurately documenting those findings in the client’s systems.

The work itself is straightforward, but the details matter. A laptop listed in one building but sitting in another is not “close enough.” The goal is to give the client a clear and accurate picture of its technology environment.

You will travel to the client’s facilities throughout Dallas and physically inventory computers, monitors, printers, peripherals, software licenses, and other applicable technology assets. You will record serial numbers, asset tags, locations, users, equipment status, and other required information in the appropriate inventory or asset-management systems.

You may also compare physical inventory findings against existing records, identify missing or inaccurate information, and help resolve discrepancies. This includes documenting equipment that has been moved, replaced, retired, repaired, or upgraded.

As the project progresses, you will maintain clear records and provide reporting that helps the client understand what equipment it owns, where it is located, how it is being used, and when it may need to be replaced.

You will work with help desk technicians, network administrators, system administrators, and other IT staff to make sure inventory work is completed without unnecessarily disrupting daily operations. Nobody wants to lose access to a computer because someone was overly enthusiastic with the asset scanner.

The inventory data you collect may also be used to identify equipment trends, plan future purchases, improve asset utilization, and determine when older technology should be upgraded or retired.

What you need to bring:

  • Experience inventorying computers, technology equipment, or other business assets
  • Ability to accurately record serial numbers, asset tags, locations, and equipment details
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Comfort using inventory databases, ticketing systems, spreadsheets, or asset-management software
  • Ability to travel between client facilities throughout the Dallas area
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work onsite and manage assignments with limited supervision
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to safely move, inspect, and access computer equipment and peripherals

Previous experience in desktop support, IT deployment, field services, hardware refresh projects, or technology asset management would be helpful, but this role is really about reliability, accuracy, and following through.

This is a great fit for someone who enjoys being out in the field, likes organized work, and gets a strange amount of satisfaction from making sure every device is exactly where the system says it is.
