We are seeking an Investment Accounting & Risk Analyst to support a large financial services organization in Minneapolis. This role will combine financial and securities accounting knowledge, regression testing, risk analysis, and advanced Excel-based data analysis.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with bonds and fixed-income instruments, understand how bond structures and interest calculations work, and possess truly advanced Excel capabilities. This is not a traditional accounts payable/accounts receivable accounting position.
Key Responsibilities
Support risk analytics and investment accounting initiatives involving financial and securities data.
Perform regression testing to validate system functionality, calculations, and financial data accuracy.
Analyze accounting and investment data related to bonds, securities, and fixed-income instruments.
Review bond structures, calculation methodologies, interest payments, and related financial data.
Research discrepancies and identify potential data, calculation, or system issues.
Utilize advanced Excel functionality to organize, analyze, reconcile, and validate large datasets.
Perform filtering, sorting, grouping, pivot table analysis, data imports, parsing, and data manipulation.
Assist with identifying process improvements and resolving moderately complex analytical issues.
Document testing results, findings, discrepancies, and recommended solutions.
Collaborate with accounting, finance, risk, technology, and business partners.
Required Qualifications
2+ years of advanced finance or accounting experience, preferably involving:
Securities accounting
Investment accounting
Bonds/fixed-income instruments
Bond structures and interest calculations
1+ year of regression testing experience.
2+ years of advanced Microsoft Excel experience, including:
Pivot tables
Filtering and sorting
Grouping
Data imports
Data parsing/manipulation
Text to Columns and similar advanced functions
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to identify discrepancies and validate complex financial calculations and datasets.
Comfortable working in a hybrid environment in Minneapolis.
Highly Preferred
SimCorp regression testing experience
Experience supporting investment or securities accounting systems
Financial services, banking, investment management, or capital markets experience
Business systems analysis experience
What We're Looking For
The strongest candidates will bring a combination of advanced Excel + bonds/investment accounting + regression testing. Candidates whose accounting experience is primarily limited to AP/AR without exposure to securities or fixed-income products are unlikely to be a fit.
