Associate - Restructuring Investment Banking
A leading investment banking and financial advisory platform is seeking an Associate to join its Restructuring Investment Banking practice. The role provides exposure to a wide variety of restructuring, capital markets, special situations, and distressed M&A transactions across multiple industries. Associates work closely with senior bankers and clients on both debtor-side and creditor-side engagements, gaining meaningful responsibility and client interaction throughout the transaction lifecycle.
The team advises companies, lenders, creditors, investors, and other stakeholders in both in-court and out-of-court restructuring situations, as well as financing and strategic transactions involving complex capital structures.
Key Areas of Focus
Advising companies and stakeholders in out-of-court and Chapter 11 restructurings
Raising third-party debt and equity financing
Providing distressed M&A advisory services
Supporting special situations and complex strategic transactions
Participating in negotiations involving multiple stakeholder groups
Responsibilities
Support the execution of debtor-side and creditor-side restructuring engagements, refinancing transactions, capital raises, and distressed M&A assignments.
Build and maintain complex financial models, including operating models, liquidity forecasts, valuation analyses, and scenario analyses.
Analyze historical and projected financial performance to evaluate strategic alternatives and restructuring solutions.
Assist in the preparation of client presentations, pitch materials, confidential information memoranda, and other transaction-related deliverables.
Conduct industry, company, and market research to support transaction execution and business development efforts.
Participate in due diligence processes and coordinate workstreams with clients, lenders, investors, legal counsel, and other stakeholders.
Assist in evaluating capital structures, financing alternatives, and restructuring options.
Work closely with senior bankers and analysts throughout all phases of transaction execution.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record from an accredited institution.
Approximately 3+ years of relevant experience in restructuring advisory, leveraged finance, investment banking, corporate finance, transaction advisory, or a related field.
Strong understanding of accounting, corporate finance, and financial statement analysis.
Advanced financial modeling and valuation capabilities, including operating and three-statement modeling experience.
Experience with liquidity analysis, forecasting, and transaction execution is preferred.
Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and communication abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proven ability to work effectively with professionals at all levels of an organization.
High attention to detail, strong work ethic, and a collaborative mindset.
Experience utilizing financial technology and data analysis tools, including AI-enabled solutions, is a plus.
