Student Worker - IOCP Mentor

Purpose/Objective of the Role:
Support the functions of the IOCP office & promote "Go Global" programming.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
Staff the front desk in Slocum Hall 311:
Answer calls, talk to walk-in students, explain resources and answer questions, alert staff when people arrive for appointments, schedule appointments, etc.
Lead our Intro to Study Abroad info sessions and assist with Pre-departure orientation (speaking to expectations vs reality, surprises, things to look forward to) and returnee events (discuss, process, and celebrate student experiences).
Help with advertising across campus:
Participate in the OWU Connection Conference, conduct outreach to your specific majors/professors, do classroom visits and presentations to peers, and table in Hamwill.
Administrative work:
Manage our general inbox and assist with study abroad, TPG, and TLC application processing.
Run our social media channels:
Post about upcoming events, highlight specific study abroad programs or initiatives, and create short videos that share honest reflections about challenges, growth, identity, budgeting, cultural adjustment, and the realities of returning home.
Collect student stories, testimonials, or "day in the life" content for future outreach, data collection, and analysis.
General office maintenance:
Tidy/organize space, wash coffee mugs, survey inventory, print documents, carry boxes, etc.
Qualifications/Skills:
Required
Prior Off-Campus Experience:
Must have completed an international or domestic off-campus study program.
Strong Communication Skills:
Comfortable with public speaking, presenting to groups, and talking to peers one-on-one.
Customer Service Mindset:
Welcoming, professional, and attentive when greeting visitors and answering inquiries.
Preferred
Digital Media:
Experience creating short-form video content and managing social media accounts.
Detail-Oriented:
Ability to handle administrative tasks and application data entry accurately.
Self-Motivated:
Capable of taking initiative on projects while balancing routine desk duties.
