    A Drug and Alcohol Counselor works with individuals who are dealing with substance abuse issues, helping them to understand their addiction, develop coping strategies, and work towards recovery. The counselor conducts assessments, provides therapy, creates treatment plans, and offers support to clients and their families.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Assess each potential client’s needs, service availability, and appropriateness for our programs

    • Perform clinical assessments on new admissions

    • Provide individual and group counseling, including therapeutic interventions designed to foster each client’s recovery from substance use disorder and overall wellbeing

    • Work with the Clinical Team to meet the meet each client’s needs and individual goals

    • Provide the appropriate documentation for services including treatment goals, progress notes, and any other documentation needed

    • Guide patients in the development of helpful skills and wrap-around recovery services and supports

    • Provide case management to clients to help them access all needed resources

    • Assist Clinical Director and Lead Clinicians in any operational or administrative tasks

    Skills:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Empathy and compassion towards individuals struggling with addiction.
    • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
    • Crisis intervention skills and the ability to handle high-stress situations.
    • Knowledge of addiction treatment methodologies and relapse prevention strategies.

    Requirements:

    • Licensed or license-eligible under the requirements of the State of Tennessee (LADAC II, LADAC I, LMSW, LCSW, LPC-MHSP, LMFT, etc.)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • May required CPR, First Aid/AED certification
