Work Authorization: H-1B, OPT
About the Role
We are seeking a talented
iOS Engineer to build and enhance the companion mobile application that serves as the primary interface.
This is a highly impactful role involving
BLE and Wi-Fi connectivity, real-time device experiences, firmware updates, AI-powered features, and native iOS development. Because the application directly interacts with physical hardware, you will work closely with hardware, firmware, backend, and ML teams.
You will own features end-to-end-from architecture and implementation through testing and App Store release-and will have significant autonomy within a small, fast-moving engineering team.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop BLE and Wi-Fi pairing and connectivity flows, including reconnection and background connectivity.
- Build reliable mechanisms for delivering firmware updates through the iOS application.
- Develop low-latency, responsive UI experiences that reflect live device state and streaming data.
- Integrate on-device and cloud-based AI capabilities into the companion application.
- Design application architecture for device state management, synchronization, offline functionality, and degraded connectivity.
- Implement and optimize native iOS capabilities, including:
- Background modes
- Push notifications
- Bluetooth permissions
- Battery efficiency
- Application performance
- Own features through the complete development lifecycle, including architecture, development, testing, deployment, and App Store release.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, firmware, backend, and machine learning teams.
- Operate independently and effectively within a small engineering organization.
Required Qualifications- Strong hands-on experience with Swift and SwiftUI/UIKit building and shipping production iOS applications.
- Experience with Core Bluetooth (BLE) and/or real-time data streaming.
- Demonstrated ability to own features end-to-end, from architecture through App Store release.
- Experience collaborating with hardware, firmware, backend, and/or ML engineering teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, small-team environment.
- Proven experience developing and maintaining production-quality iOS applications.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience building hardware-connected companion applications.
- Experience with IoT devices, wearables, or other connected hardware products.
- Experience working at a startup or growth-stage company.
- Experience working in small, highly autonomous engineering teams.
- Personal projects, side builds, or open-source contributions demonstrating strong iOS development skills.
Why This Role
This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of
mobile engineering, connected hardware, real-time systems, and AI. You will have direct ownership of critical product experiences and collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines while working on a product where the iOS application is central to the overall user experience.
