The Qualitative Analysis & Operations VISTA will strengthen Iowa HHS by developing sustainable systems that improve how staff capture, organize, and use community and provider feedback across service systems. This role directly supports AmeriCorps VISTA's anti-poverty mission by enhancing HHS's ability to understand and respond to the experiences of Iowans who face the greatest economic and structural barriers. The VISTA Volunteer will expand internal capacity by creating standardized qualitative analysis routines, clear thematic summaries, and accessible "what we heard/what we're doing" updates aligned with HHS communication and performance practices. These improvements help staff integrate lived experience and provide insights into decision-making, advancing strategies across the agency that support equitable access to health and human services. By building coding tools, summary templates, SOPs, and easy-to-use feedback workflows, the VISTA will help HHS develop consistent practices that demonstrate transparency, strengthen relationships, and support improved outcomes for low-income and ALICE Iowans. The VISTA Volunteer will also support one division-wide volunteer engagement objective by identifying other potential volunteer-supported roles and developing sustainable onboarding and training tools aligned to agency standards. The systems, resources, and practices developed will remain in place long after the service year, increasing HHS's long-term ability to integrate community voice, streamline planning, and reduce barriers that perpetuate poverty. Member Duties : The VISTA will build sustainable tools, feedback workflows, communication templates, and summary processes that strengthen qualitative analysis across Iowa HHS. They will support the development of routine "what we heard/what we're doing" updates, create SOPs and toolkits that standardize incoming feedback practices, and help divisions use consistent methods to capture and apply community insights. They will also conduct scans of existing processes, support meeting preparation, build resource hubs, and help divisions adopt plain-language and accessibility standards that improve understanding of community needs. One objective will focus on volunteer-supported capacity building through the creation of volunteer onboarding tools and role templates. All activities are capacity building, aligned to VISTA requirements, and designed for long-term sustainability.
