A prominent international AmLaw 50law firm is seeking a talented Patent Agent to join their Intellectual Property (IP) - Patents Practice. This position offers a unique opportunity to leverage scientific expertise in a dynamic legal environment, advising cutting-edge clients in the emerging technology sector.
Candidate Profile
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics with an excellent academic record
2+ years of substantive experience in patent preparation and prosecution
Experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, Internet of Things, optics, or related fields is highly advantageous
Working proficiency in Microsoft Office software
Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and writing skills, with an exceptional attention to technical detail and effective organizational and communication skills
Key Responsibilities
Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas
Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors
Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies
Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the USPTO
Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management

Competitive Compensation: Includes an annual salary range of $100,000 - $200,000, as determined by experience and market factors
