Senior Network Engineer / IPv6 SME

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Network Engineer/IPv6 Subject Matter Expert for an onsite position supporting a government program. The candidate will provide network management and IPv6 architecture design support for a federal department. This role involves leading the implementation and augmentation of IPv6 into the existing environment, making it a significant opportunity to advance your career in network engineering.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and implementation of IPv6 architecture within an existing network environment.
• Manage network modernization, migration, or transformation in large, complex environments, including data center, cloud, LAN/WAN, remote access, or Internet environments.
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to design, implement, and troubleshoot enterprise-scale IP networks.
• Develop and present technical documentation, including high-level designs (HLDs), low-level designs (LLDs), network diagrams, implementation plans, and technical standards.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 10 years of professional experience in network engineering, network architecture, or related telecommunications/infrastructure disciplines.
• At least 5 years of demonstrated IPv6 experience covering architecture, addressing, routing, implementation, migration, dual-stack environments, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with enterprise routing/switching and protocols/services such as BGP, OSPF/OSPFv3, EIGRP, IS-IS, IPv4/IPv6, DNS, DHCP/DHCPv6, ICMP/ICMPv6, TCP/IP, and SNMP.
• Experience with network security technologies, including firewalls, access control, segmentation, and security monitoring.
• Experience with Cisco, F5, and CrowdStrike technologies.
• Strong technical communication, documentation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience architecting and implementing zero trust solutions.

Preferred Experience and Certifications:

• Experience with Federal Government network engineering, IPv6 mandates/standards, or enterprise IPv6 readiness initiatives.
• Experience with enterprise IPv6 adoption/migration roadmaps and IPv6-only environments.
• Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or equivalent cloud networking; data center networking and virtualization.
• Integration of IPv6 with firewalls, load balancers, DNS/DHCP, identity/access-control, security, monitoring, and management platforms.
• Relevant certifications such as CCIE/CCNP, JNCIP/JNCIE, recognized IPv6 credentials, Azure Network Engineer, AWS Advanced Networking, CISSP, Security+, or equivalent.

Education and Technical Leadership:

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline is preferred. Equivalent education, training, certifications, and professional experience may be considered subject to approval.
