Summary

Performs interventional cardiac and vascular radiography procedures for in and out patients. Assists radiologists and other specialists in performing invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including angiograms, ablations, angioplasties and stent placements. Provides procedural-related patient care and education. Maintains equipment and records/documentation for procedures.

Qualifications

Required

One (1) year of experience in Cardiac Catheterizations, Electrophysiology or Interventional Radiology.One (1) year of experience in Cardiac Catheterizations, Electrophysiology or Interventional Radiology.

  • Must meet one of the following eligibility requirements:
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) OR Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)
  • Surgical Tech Certification with Cardiovascular Credentialing Internation (CCI) as Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification within twenty-four (24) months of hire OR seven (7) years continuous scrub tech work since, prior to 1/1/2018; must successfully complete not less than fifteen (15) hours annually continuing education for surgical technologists.
  • State of Nevada license for Radiography (If Applicable).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for healthcare providers certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Knowledge of coronary and peripheral vascular anatomy and physiology, Electrophysiology, EP or cardiac ablation, and medical terminology.

Preferred

  • One (1) year of experience in Cardiac Catheterizations, Electrophysiology or Interventional Radiology.
  • ARRT specialty certification in cardiac interventional and/or vascular interventional radiography OR CCI RCIS or RCES certification.ARRT specialty certification in cardiac interventional and/or vascular interventional radiography OR CCI RCIS or RCES certification.ARRT specialty certification in cardiac interventional and/or vascular interventional radiography OR CCI RCIS or RCES certification.

Essential Functions

  • Provides radiographs and specialized studies of the highest quality in a timely manner for both Cardiac and Vascular procedures.
  • Prepares contrast media and administers as ordered through intravascular route or power injector as ordered by the attending physician in the lab. Performs venipuncture for the administration of IV contrast.
  • Demonstrate and model competency in various modalities in the Cath Lab including, but not limited to, Electrophysiology, Interventional Radiology and Cath Lab. Continue to advance competency through CEU's and in house training.
  • Performs in a scrub or circulating position independently within the Cardiac and Vascular Cath Labs.
  • Performs operation of the hemodynamic monitor, records procedure notes, collects all required data and performs data entry.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of PACS system function and mechanics. Troubleshoots on all modalities of recording. Prepares images for presentation of cases for Cath Conferences.
  • Explains to and prepares patients for procedures and assists patient with proper positioning for imaging and catheterization. Practices medical and surgical aseptic and sterile techniques
  • Documents patient assessment/history related to procedures and provides patient care and education to meet patient's physical and psychological needs.
  • Timely and accurately submits medical coding documentation to ensure proper billing.
