Job Summary and Qualifications

The IR Technologist assumes responsibility for assisting physicians with diagnostic and interventional invasive procedures on patients ranging in age from neonatal to geriatric. He /she adheres to facility policy and procedures in assessing, implementing, documenting, and evaluating the diagnostic services provided. 

  • You will perform technical patient care and daily functions of the IR/SP scope of practice.
  • You will assist and will be cross-trained in the Cath Lab and associated areas as assigned by the department Charge RN and/or the department Director including but not limited to stress testing, Cath Lab, PICC Insertion.
  • You will provide health care services by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment.
  • You will assist the Radiologist during all Intervention Radiology / Special Procedures cases.


What qualifications you will need:

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR
  • Registered by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (RCIS)
  • Current CPR certificate in Basic Life Support
  • BAR: Basic Arrhythmia Reading / Recognition (In House Class-must pass within 90 days of hire)
  • ACLS certification within one (1) year of hire
  • RCIS Registry OR ARRT Registry (RT must complete VI or CI credential within one (1) year of hire)
  • A minimum of two years in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing interpersonal relationships necessary to promote a positive and effective working environment
  • Demonstrates documented competence specific to Special Procedures for at least two years as a radiographer.
