JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Irwin Building Maintenance Supervisor, the Irwin Center Custodian will perform skilled and semi-skilled work pertaining to the upkeep of the facility. The H-F Park Districts mission statement is "to enhance the quality of life through diverse recreational opportunities, facilities and parks while caring for the environment".
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide outstanding customer service to our internal and external guests by providing friendly, responsive, courteous and helpful service.
Secure and lock all windows, doors at the close of each shift.
Report any safety concerns to supervisor.
Cleaning the interior and exterior areas of the facility.
Operation of equipment and hand tools, common power tools.
Maintain/Repair all furnishings and equipment.
Set up facility spaces for programs, rentals and events.
Assist with building/maintenance project.
Address emergency problems, leaks, broken equipment, etc.
Perform housekeeping tasks as needed or as directed by Supervisor.
Report to supervisor any safety concerns noticed in and around the facility.
Follows all policy and safety rules.
Inspect facility to identify repairs and maintenance items that need attention.
Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Safety Manual with ability to recognize safety hazards.
Other job related duties as assigned.

Enjoys working with and serving the public with a customer service focus.
Be a self-starter.
JOB SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Some experience in a maintenance related field.
Ability to follow through on a task without immediate supervision.
Ability to understand and carry out verbal and/or written instructions efficiently.
Ability to operate assigned equipment.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
Janitorial or cleaning experience.
Certification in advanced Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 60 days of employment and keep certification current. The District provides this training.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Hours can vary based on schedules.
Hours primarily evenings and weekends.
