Established in 1980, the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC) is a multi-site, mission-driven, non-profit organization employing over 700 staff whose primary focus is providing the highest quality patient care to residents throughout the Merrimack Valley. Nationally recognized as a leader in community medicine — family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, and geriatrics — GLFHC operates multiple clinical sites throughout the service area and serves as the sponsoring organization for the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency Program.

GLFHC is currently seeking an IS Applications System Analyst, Senior to join our team. The Senior Application Systems Analyst provides analytical and technical support for software systems used throughout the Health Center, ensuring users have access to accurate, timely, and meaningful data. This role partners closely with Information Services, Clinical Informatics, Business Intelligence, Operations, and Finance teams to maintain application integrity, improve workflows, and support ongoing system enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

Analysis, Reporting & Systems Support

  • Lead workflow and data analysis initiatives to improve operational efficiency and system utilization.
  • Analyze, document, and communicate system updates and software changes.
  • Test, validate, and support software patches and application releases.
  • Maintain performance, integrity, and accuracy of supported applications and reporting systems.
  • Document EMR/PM workflows, procedures, and maintenance processes.
  • Support version control and change management practices.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, Clinical Informatics, and Business Intelligence teams on application specifications and integrations.
  • Support reporting governance, prioritization, and report tracking processes.
  • Partner with Operations, Finance, and Patient Accounts to ensure timely and compliant reporting.

Training & Knowledge Sharing

  • Train and mentor junior team members and end users.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for supported applications and systems.

Technical Tools & Data Management

  • Utilize reporting and analytics tools including SQL Server, Report Builder, and Power BI.
  • Support Helpdesk processes and user administration activities.
  • Work with database and technical teams to support automated data delivery and reporting solutions.

Professional Standards

  • Maintain knowledge of healthcare informatics, regulatory requirements, and billing trends.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and organizational projects.
  • Follow all organizational security and confidentiality practices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience 

  • 7–10 years of experience as a Data Analyst, Programmer Analyst, Application Analyst, or similar role.
  • Experience supporting Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems; Athena experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of application support, configuration, and maintenance in healthcare or similarly regulated environments.
  • Experience with SQL Server, reporting tools, and data visualization platforms such as Power BI or Tableau preferred.
  • Experience with application design, development, and testing strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages and automation tools is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and workflow improvement skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and directly related progressive experience may be considered.

Greater Lawrence Family Health Center

Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC), a Federally Qualified Health Center with clinical sites in located in Lawrence and Methuen, Massachusetts, serves over 60,000 unique patients from Lawrence and the surrounding communities of Methuen, Andover, North Andover and Haverhill. It is the second-largest Federally Qualified Health Center in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Since 1980, GLFHC has been fulfilling its mission “to improve and maintain the health of individuals and families in the Merrimack Valley by providing a network of high quality, comprehensive health care services and by training health care professionals who can respond to the needs of a culturally diverse population.”

GLFHC is also home to the nationally-recognized Lawrence Family Medicine Residency (LFMR) program, the first family medicine residency program of its kind in the United States. Solely owned and operated as an academic medical residency by the health center, LFMR has graduated close to 200 primary care physicians. The majority of LFMR graduates have either stayed at the health center or have chosen to stay working in low-income, underserved communities in Massachusetts and across the country. In FY2020, LFMR will be home to 42 residents who participate in one of the only 4-year programs in the country as part of a demonstration project conducted by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services.
