Job Description
We are seeking an IS Facilities Infrastructure Operations Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in operational support of IDF/MDF environments, low-voltage cabling, power and cooling, and physical security and a proven ability to maintain compliant, organized IT rooms while executing projects and sustaining accurate infrastructure documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Execute day-to-day operations and project tasks within assigned IDF and MDF environments.
- Support and manage low-voltage cabling, space utilization, physical security, power, and cooling initiatives within IT rooms.
- Support remediation projects for IT rooms and provide post-remediation operational support while coordinating with clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Partner with Real Estate, Facilities, Engineering, and other teams to identify and resolve power, cooling, and environmental deficiencies.
- Coordinate with security teams and vendors to address physical security, including access control systems and card readers.
- Assess, recommend, and implement improvements to cable plant infrastructure and enforce cabling standards.
- Develop and deliver patching and cabling best-practice training to network patching teams.
- Conduct routine inspections of IDF and MDF locations to ensure operational readiness and compliance.
- Maintain IT rooms in a clean, organized, and serviceable condition, including removal of debris and abandoned equipment.
- Coordinate decommissioning, disposition, and removal of obsolete or legacy equipment in racks and cabinets.
- Perform network port scrubs to optimize infrastructure utilization.
- Create, maintain, and update rack elevation diagrams and related documentation for IDF and MDF environments.
- Manage and track assigned operational and project tasks using ServiceNow, SharePoint, and related platforms.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with ServiceNow preferred for task and workflow management.
- Familiarity with Cisco network switches and patching best practices.
- Familiarity with Vertiv UPS equipment and power fundamentals for IT rooms.
- Experience maintaining IDFs/MDFs in a healthcare setting, including knowledge of power and cooling, preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience coordinating with Facilities, Engineering, and Security for environmental and access control improvements.
- Experience creating rack elevations, cable management standards, and operational documentation.
