SUMMARY: The In-School Detention (ISD) Paraprofessional supervises students assigned to In-School Detention/In- School Suspension (ISS) and maintains a safe, structured, and productive learning environment. The paraprofessional monitors student behavior, supports completion of assigned academic work, facilitates student reflection and accountability, and communicates with teachers, counselors, and administrators regarding student progress. The position also provides building supervision duties and classroom support as assigned to meet school needs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This position may require the ability to provide physical intervention to students in danger of harming them self or others.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
MENTAL FUNCTIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, copy, instruct, analyze, and use interpersonal skills. Frequently required to compare, coordinate, compute, synthesize, evaluate, compile, and negotiate.
