The Office of Global Learning (OGL) at the UF International Center contributes to the advancement of UF’s internationalization strategy through the administration of co-curricular academic programming for students and the organization of professional development initiatives for faculty and staff. The signature student-centered initiatives are the International Scholars and Peace Corps Preparatory programs. The International Scholars Program (ISP) is a co-curricular global distinction program that offers undergraduate students structured opportunities to internationalize their UF degree. Peace Corps Prep is an additional distinction program supporting in particular undergraduate students who are interested in applying to become Peace Corps volunteers around the world. The ISP Advisor will assist in the administration of the International Scholars and Peace Corps Prep programs. Responsibilities will include student advising, tracking, recruitment, marketing and communications, and event planning for both programs. The ISP Advisor will also be responsible for mentoring students in the development of the International Scholars Program capstone eportfolios.We seek a strong administrator and student-centered educator. The ISP Advisor will report to the OGL Director. International Scholars Program Advisor (ISP Advisor)

Classification Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in education, counseling, or academic field related to the college OR Bachelor’s degree in similar fields with one year of relevant experience.

Job Description:

Academic program coordination and student advising 

A) Advise students in the International Scholars and Peace Corps Prep programs. This includes advising on the programs’ academic and co-curricular requirements.

B) Track students’ progress, update records, and interact and update Canvas shell.

D) Lead in-person and virtual orientations and workshops for ISP and Peace Corps Prep students

E) Organize eportfolio showcases and ISP graduation ceremonies.

F) Mentor students individually on the development of their eportfolios.

G) Recruit ISP Ambassadors

H) Organize co-curricular international activities in collaboration with other campus units (i.e., Career Connections Center)

J) Collaborate with Peace Corps recruiter

K) Collaborate with other International Center (i.e., Study Abroad Services, International Student Services…) units as needed

Outreach, marketing and communication 

  1. Curate the content of the International Scholars and Peace Corps Prep programs newsletters, web pages, and promotional flyers.

B) Present and represent the International Scholars and Peace Corps Prep programs to different audiences across campus through presentations, including preview and tabling events.

Expected Salary:

$40,000-$47,500/annually

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in education, counseling, or academic field related to the college OR Bachelor’s degree in similar fields with one year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in international education, global or cultural studies, higher education administration, or other relevant field and at least two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience teaching, advising, and/or engaging students through co-curricular programs (i.e., student life)
  • Solid knowledge of technology and ability to rapidly learn and adopt new technologies.
  • Experience overseeing program administrative processes and managing workflows using Excel, Bookings, Canvas, Suitable, and Terra Dotta.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, maintain, and nurture mentoring relationships with students.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to speak with various audiences, from faculty and staff to large groups of undergraduate students
  • Ability to organize and plan events, manage multiple tasks at once, and to move quickly between tasks
  • Experience in academic program coordination in a higher education environment
  • Experience working or living outside the United States and knowledge of foreign languages
  • Familiarity with e-portfolio pedagogy
  • Familiarity with COIL/virtual exchange methodology
