ACADEMY GENERAL - IT/AV Media Technician

Position summary

The IT/AV Media Technician supports the mission of Andrews Academy and Ruth Murdoch Elementary School education by providing reliable technology services, audiovisual/media support, and digital communication management. This role ensures that faculty, staff, and students have the technical resources and assistance needed to foster effective teaching, learning, and school operations. This is a full-time (40 hrs. per week) position shared between RMES (16 hours) and AA (24 hours).

Duties and responsibilities

  • IT Support & Systems Management (at RMES and AA)

  • Maintain and troubleshoot school hardware, software, and network systems.

  • Provide timely technical support for faculty, staff, and students.

  • Manage user accounts, email systems, and security protocols.

  • Oversee technology inventory and recommend upgrades as needed.

  • Media Production & Communication (at AA)

  • Provide audiovisual setup and technical support for school events, worship services, assemblies, and meetings.

  • Manage livestreaming, video recording, editing, and digital archiving.

  • Create and distribute digital content (graphics, announcements, newsletters, etc.) to support school communication.

  • Maintain and update the school website and social media platforms.

  • Collaboration & Training (at AA and RMES)

  • Train faculty and staff in the use of educational technology and media tools.

  • Collaborate with administrators and teachers to integrate technology into instruction.

  • Support students in developing media and technology skills where applicable.

Supervisory responsibilities

At AA supervise and mentor a team of approximately 3-4 high school students, providing guidance and project oversight in media and IT-related activities.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Media Production, or related field preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of IT systems, troubleshooting, and network management.

  • Proficiency in audiovisual equipment, livestreaming platforms, and video editing software.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a school setting.

Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Technical competencies

Main Technical Competencies for IT/AV Media Technician

  1. Hardware Maintenance and Support
  • Diagnoses, repairs, and maintains desktop computers, laptops, Chromebooks, printers, scanners, and peripheral devices.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and equipment lifecycle management.
  • Installs and configures computer hardware and accessories.
  1. Software Installation and Troubleshooting
  • Installs, configures, updates, and supports operating systems and educational software.
  • Troubleshoots software malfunctions and user-related issues.

Physical demands
