Job Summary

The Power BI Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions that enable data-driven decision-making. This role works with multiple data sources, including SharePoint, Excel, relational databases, and ODBC connections, to create reliable, scalable, and user-friendly Power BI reports and dashboards. The developer collaborates closely with business and IT stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports
  • Integrate data from SharePoint lists and libraries, Excel files, databases, and ODBC-connected data sources
  • Create and optimize data models using Power Query, DAX, and relationships
  • Develop ETL processes to cleanse, transform, and load data into Power BI datasets
  • Ensure data accuracy, performance optimization, and best practices in report design
  • Collaborate with business users to gather requirements and define KPIs
  • Implement role-based security (RLS) and data governance standards
  • Publish and manage reports in Power BI Service, including refresh schedules
  • Document data sources, transformation logic, and report definitions
  • Troubleshoot data quality, performance, and connectivity issues

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience developing solutions using Power BI
  • Strong experience working with SharePoint
  • Advanced experience with Excel, including formulas, Power Query, and data modeling
  • Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server or Oracle
  • Experience using and managing ODBC connections
  • Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Power BI certification (PL-300 or equivalent)
  • Experience with Azure data services such as Azure SQL, Data Factory, or Synapse
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling
  • Experience with data governance, security, and performance tuning in Power BI
  • Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies

The base range for this contract position is $25.00 - $45.00 per hour, depending on experience. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
