IT Cloud Engineer

Incorporated in 1997, Sonic Automotive, Inc. is one of the largest automotive retailers in the United States. We have two operating segments, consisting of franchised dealerships that represent over 25 different new vehicle brands, and EchoPark Automotive, which offers a unique car buying experience in the 1-4 year-old pre-owned vehicle market.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Cloud Engineer with expertise in Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and DevOps practices to design, implement, automate, and support cloud-based infrastructure and application deployment pipelines. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building scalable, secure, and highly available cloud environments while driving infrastructure automation, CI/CD adoption, and operational excellence across multi-cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure Management

• Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure within AWS and Azure environments.

• Implement scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud architectures.

• Monitor cloud resource utilization and optimize performance, availability, and cost.

• Manage virtual networks, storage solutions, compute resources, and cloud security controls.

• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as:

• Terraform

• AWS CloudFormation

• Azure Bicep/ARM Templates

• Streamline operational workflows through scripting and automation.

Security & Compliance

• Implement cloud security best practices, including IAM, RBAC, encryption, and network security.
• Monitor and remediate vulnerabilities within cloud environments.
• Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
• Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning.

Monitoring & Operations

• Configure and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, application, and deployment issues.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventative measures.
• Participate in on-call support and incident response activities as required.

Collaboration & Technical Leadership

• Partner with development, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and business teams to deliver cloud solutions.
• Provide technical guidance on cloud architecture and DevOps best practices.
• Document cloud environments, operational procedures, and deployment standards.

Support cloud migration and modernization initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor''s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience

• 3-7+ years of experience in cloud engineering, systems administration, or DevOps roles.
• Hands-on experience managing AWS and Azure cloud environments.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure.
