Role Overview

Our client is seeking a highly experienced SAP ABAP technical leader to define enterprise architecture standards and guide complex SAP modernization initiatives. This role will lead SAP S/4HANA transformations, SAP BTP extensions, integrations, custom development, and technical governance while collaborating with business, functional, and enterprise architecture teams.

Responsibilities

• Define SAP technical architecture, development standards, and governance frameworks.

• Lead SAP S/4HANA transformation, upgrade, migration, conversion, and modernization initiatives.

• Provide architectural direction for custom development, integrations, cloud extensions, and clean-core strategies.

• Design complex SAP solutions using OO ABAP, ABAP on HANA, CDS Views, AMDP, RAP, OData, Fiori, and UI5.

• Review and approve solution architecture documents, technical designs, development strategies, and code-quality standards.

• Architect SAP BTP side-by-side and in-app extensibility solutions.

• Design integrations between SAP and non-SAP applications using APIs, REST, SOAP, EDI, IDocs, RFCs, and event-driven technologies.

• Drive code optimization, performance tuning, technical risk assessments, and performance-improvement plans.

• Lead design reviews, code reviews, architecture governance sessions, and technical delivery planning.

• Mentor global SAP development teams and provide effort estimates, risk management, and delivery oversight.

• Collaborate with executive stakeholders, system integrators, vendors, functional teams, and enterprise architecture groups.

• Develop migration strategies, integration architecture designs, technical standards, and governance documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• At least 20 years of SAP ABAP development and technical architecture experience.

• Extensive experience leading enterprise SAP transformation programs.

• Advanced knowledge of SAP S/4HANA, ABAP on HANA, OO ABAP, CDS Views, AMDP, and RAP Framework.

• Hands-on experience with SAP BTP, SAP Fiori/UI5, OData Services, workflows, and BRF+.

• Strong experience with SAP Integration Suite, REST/SOAP APIs, IDocs, ALE, RFCs, and BAPIs.

• Experience supporting S/4HANA greenfield, brownfield, upgrade, migration, and conversion programs.

• Knowledge of SAP Clean Core principles and extensibility strategies.

• Experience with SAP Cloud ALM and SAP Activate methodology.

• Functional exposure to SAP MM, SD, PP, WM/EWM, LE, FI/CO, and TM.

• Demonstrated experience leading global SAP development teams.

• Experience managing technical governance, delivery planning, risk assessment, and stakeholder communication.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP ABAP, SAP BTP, or SAP S/4HANA certification.

• SAP Ariba experience.

• Experience managing teams of 15–50 SAP consultants.

• Experience participating in Architecture Review Boards.

• Executive stakeholder-management experience.

• Vendor and systems-integrator management experience.

• Program governance and enterprise delivery leadership experience.
