Job Title: IT Field Technician
Location: Austin/Round Rock, TX Metroplex (Work from Home)
Job Type: Full-time (Contract)

Role Summary
We are hiring one or two experienced IT Technicians to support city operations. You will manage daily help desk tickets, maintain computer networks, and keep city servers running smoothly. You will also provide direct, hands-on technical support to clients.

Core Responsibilities
  • Server & Network Management: Install, configure, and troubleshoot city servers, switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Computer Support: Set up, repair, and upgrade desktop computers, laptops, and mobile devices (Windows and macOS).
  • Help Desk Support: Resolve user tickets quickly. This includes password resets, software installs, and printer fixes.
  • Infrastructure: Manage cable setups (like Cat5e and Cat6) and maintain reliable WiFi networks.
  • Security & Backups: Monitor system health, perform data backups, and apply security updates to protect city data.
Requirements
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in IT support, network administration, and server maintenance.
  • Education: Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and Active Directory.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent customer service skills. You must clearly explain technical steps to non-technical city staff.
  • Transportation: Reliable vehicle to travel between city sites in the Austin/Round Rock metroplex.
  • Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) are highly preferred.
