We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT Intern to support our Information Technology team across three high-impact initiatives. This is a hands-on internship designed for a college student looking to gain real-world experience in IT security analytics, data governance, and enterprise systems management. You will work directly with senior IT professionals and contribute to projects that have measurable impact on the organizations security posture and operational efficiency.

This internship will be based onsite at our ASSA ABLOY Americas headquarters location in New Haven, CT. Candidates must be able to work onsite during the hours of 8:30-5:00.

Key Responsibilities

IT Security Metrics Dashboard (Power BI)

  • Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of an IT Security Metrics Dashboard using Microsoft Power BI
  • Collaborate with the security team to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and relevant data sources
  • Connect, transform, and model data from multiple systems to produce accurate, actionable visualizations
  • Document data sources, report logic, and dashboard usage guidelines

Configuration Management Database (CMDB) Cleanup

  • Audit existing CMDB records to identify duplicates, outdated entries, and missing attributes
  • Work with IT infrastructure and operations teams to validate and reconcile asset data
  • Assist in establishing and documenting data quality standards and remediation procedures
  • Support ongoing CMDB governance processes to ensure long-term data accuracy

Customer Master Data Management (MDM) Cleanup

  • Assist in reviewing and cleansing customer master data records to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Identify and help resolve duplicate, inconsistent, or incomplete customer records
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and validation rules
  • Support data migration, deduplication, and enrichment efforts as needed

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI or similar data visualization tools (coursework or personal projects acceptable)
  • Basic understanding of database concepts, data quality principles, or IT asset management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with SQL or data querying is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Eagerness to learn and take ownership of assigned tasks

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to ITIL frameworks or ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow)
  • Understanding of data governance or MDM concepts
  • Experience with any ETL or data integration tools
  • Familiarity with IT security concepts and frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS Controls)
