Position Overview

Dolly's Tennessean Travel Stop is seeking a hands-on, solutions-oriented IT Manager to oversee the technology systems that support our day-to-day operations. This individual will be responsible for maintaining all on-site hardware, software, networks, digital signage, security systems, and audio systems while providing responsive technical support to employees across the business.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable troubleshooting a printer, configuring a point-of-sale terminal, managing server room infrastructure, and helping an employee install a required mobile application. This role requires someone who is proactive, patient, organized, and able to identify and resolve issues quickly in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Technology Operations and Infrastructure

  • Oversee, maintain, and troubleshoot all on-site hardware, software, devices, and technology systems.
  • Manage computers, tablets, printers, scanners, handheld devices, phones, and other operational equipment.
  • Maintain server rooms, network equipment, cabling, wiring, internet connectivity, and related infrastructure.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively address potential disruptions or equipment failures.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and service providers when additional technical support is required.
  • Maintain accurate records of technology assets, licenses, warranties, passwords, configurations, and service agreements.

Point-of-Sale Systems

  • Support and maintain point-of-sale hardware and software across retail, food and beverage, and other customer-facing areas.
  • Troubleshoot registers, payment terminals, printers, scanners, kitchen equipment integrations, and handheld devices.
  • Assist with system updates, installations, configurations, and new technology rollouts.
  • Work closely with operational teams and POS vendors to resolve issues quickly and minimize downtime.

Digital Signage, Audio, and Security Systems

  • Manage all digital signage throughout the building, including screens, media players, software, scheduling, and content deployment.
  • Ensure signage is functioning properly and displaying accurate, current content.
  • Support and maintain camera and video surveillance systems.
  • Oversee audio systems, speakers, microphones, music systems, and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot system connectivity, equipment failures, and integration issues.

Employee Technology Support

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee technology questions and issues.
  • Provide hands-on support for problems ranging from printer and device troubleshooting to software access and mobile application setup.
  • Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding, including account creation, permissions, devices, and system access.
  • Train employees on technology systems, applications, cybersecurity practices, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and patiently to employees with varying levels of technical experience.

Security and Process Improvement

  • Help protect company systems, devices, networks, and information through appropriate cybersecurity practices.
  • Manage user access, passwords, permissions, backups, updates, and security controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and the employee and customer experience through technology.
  • Develop basic procedures and documentation for common systems and recurring technology issues.
  • Support technology planning for future locations, expansions, and new operational initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in IT support, systems administration, technology operations, or a related role.
  • Experience supporting point-of-sale hardware and software in a retail, restaurant, hospitality, or similar operating environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of computers, mobile devices, printers, networks, servers, wiring, and general IT infrastructure.
  • Experience with digital signage, camera systems, and audio systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to remain calm and effective during urgent system issues.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to provide hands-on support throughout the property and respond to operational needs as they arise.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with employees, leadership, vendors, and third-party technology providers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting multi-department retail, restaurant, travel center, entertainment, or hospitality operations.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence tools and practical business applications.
  • Experience using AI, automation, or emerging technology to create innovative solutions and improve operational efficiency.
  • Experience assisting with new store openings, system implementations, or technology buildouts.
  • Relevant technical certifications or formal education in information technology, computer systems, networking, or a related field.

What Success Looks Like

  • Technology systems remain reliable, secure, and operational.
  • Technology issues are handled quickly, professionally, and with minimal disruption to employees or customers.
  • Employees feel supported and confident using the systems required for their roles.
  • Digital signage, POS systems, cameras, audio equipment, and network infrastructure are consistently maintained.
  • Technology is used creatively to improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and support the continued growth of Dolly's Tennessean Travel Stops.
