IT Manager – Logistics Systems & Digital Transformation

Location: Long Beach, CA or Plano, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Work Arrangement: Hybrid

  • Long Beach: 2 days onsite / 3 days remote

  • Plano: 3 days onsite / 2 days remote

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM–5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)
Work Week: 35 hours per week
Compensation: $120,000–$135,000 annually
Pay Type: Exempt

Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced IT Manager – Logistics Systems & Digital Transformation to lead digital transformation initiatives and enterprise technology operations supporting logistics and business functions. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing business systems, infrastructure, software development, automation initiatives, IT support operations, vendor relationships, and technology strategy.

The ideal candidate combines strong leadership, project management, and systems expertise with a proven ability to drive innovation and deliver scalable technology solutions. This individual will work cross-functionally to support business growth through process optimization, systems integration, automation, and technology modernization efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead internal technology team members, consultants, and external vendors

  • Assign priorities, manage workloads, monitor progress, and provide coaching and performance feedback

  • Establish departmental goals, key performance metrics, operational procedures, and service standards

  • Drive collaboration across business, operations, accounting, sales, and administrative teams

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation

IT Strategy & Digital Transformation

  • Develop and execute technology strategies aligned with business objectives

  • Identify opportunities for automation, process optimization, systems integration, and operational improvements

  • Evaluate existing technology systems and recommend enhancements, replacements, and risk mitigation strategies

  • Provide leadership with analysis, recommendations, and project updates regarding technology initiatives

  • Support enterprise-wide digital transformation efforts across multiple business functions

Systems Operations & User Support

  • Oversee operation, maintenance, and support of transportation management, warehouse management, accounting, reporting, and enterprise systems

  • Manage Microsoft 365 applications and enterprise technology environments

  • Monitor system performance, incidents, service requests, and issue resolution activities

  • Maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures, manuals, and knowledge repositories

  • Coordinate technology changes, upgrades, audits, and support initiatives

Project Management & Solution Delivery

  • Lead technology projects including software implementation, infrastructure upgrades, automation initiatives, integrations, and application enhancements

  • Define project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, risks, deliverables, and communication plans

  • Gather and translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions

  • Utilize project methodologies including Agile and Scrum where applicable

  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule and aligned with business needs

Software Development & Systems Integration

  • Oversee software architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, and support activities

  • Support development of web applications, internal tools, automation initiatives, APIs, and data integrations

  • Ensure software development lifecycle standards, documentation, version control, and quality practices are followed

  • Promote continuous improvement in software delivery and systems performance

Infrastructure, Vendor Management & Technology Assets

  • Manage hardware procurement, software licensing, desktop support, endpoint management, and technology lifecycle activities

  • Support secure user environments including mobile devices, access management, authentication tools, and remote connectivity solutions

  • Maintain technology inventory records and asset audits

  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, support agreements, and procurement activities

  • Monitor technology expenditures and cost optimization opportunities

Information Security & Compliance

  • Support technology security policies and best practices

  • Coordinate access controls, endpoint security, data protection initiatives, and compliance requirements

  • Assist with risk assessments, audit activities, incident response, and remediation efforts

  • Promote secure handling of business systems and company information

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred

  • 8+ years of experience in information technology, systems implementation, software development, or digital transformation required

  • 3+ years of leadership or people management experience required

  • 3+ years of IT project management experience including software implementation, automation, systems integration, or process improvement required

  • Previous consulting experience strongly preferred

  • Strong knowledge of transportation management systems, warehouse management systems, accounting systems, APIs, reporting tools, and web applications required

  • Experience with enterprise business systems and reporting platforms preferred

  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows and Linux environments, servers, cloud technologies, networking, remote connectivity, and endpoint support required

  • Experience with vendor management, procurement, contract coordination, and IT asset management required

  • Knowledge of information security, access management, compliance, and data protection preferred

  • Logistics, transportation, supply chain, trucking, freight, or warehouse industry experience preferred

  • Project Management certification preferred

  • Occasional travel required for system implementations, operational support, vendor meetings, and business initiatives
