Onsite: Monday-Thursday 7:00-5:00, Friday 7:00-12:00, plus after-hours availability for maintenance windows and escalations
Position Summary:
The Agency is hiring an IT Manager to own technology for 250+ employees across 5 locations. You'll inherit a setup that is co-managed in house and currently runs largely through an external managed service provider. Part of this role is to turn it into something more deliberate: build an internal team, manage an MSP scoped to what it genuinely does best, standardize infrastructure across sites, and the key systems talking to each other. This is a hands-on role, you'll be setting direction and also doing the work.
Key Responsibilities:
Build and lead the internal IT function
- Define the IT Support Specialist role, run the hire, and onboard them
- Set priorities, standards, and escalation paths for the internal team
- Decide what work belongs in-house versus with the MSP, and rescope the MSP contract as internal capability grows
- Develop future team members
End-user support and service quality
- Own the user experience of IT across all sites: ticket volume, resolution times, recurring issues, customer satisfaction
- Establish clear intake and triage between the internal team and the MSP
- Eliminate root causes behind repeat tickets rather than resolving them faster
- Standardize onboarding/offboarding, device provisioning, and documentation across locations
- Routinely be present at each site to understand needs and how each one operates
- Manage all software and software licensing.
- Manage hardware and mobile devices, including laptops, iPads, cell phones, tv's, NovoConnects, firewalls, servers, access points, protectors, and WiFi hot spots
- Reducing/eliminating downtime.
MSP and vendor management
- Hold the MSP accountable through defined SLAs and regular service reviews
- Serve as the escalation point when the MSP's process isn't working
- Manage contracts, renewals, and licensing
Infrastructure and cloud migration
- Maintain infrastructure to a common standard including network, connectivity, endpoints, identity
- Own backup, disaster recovery, and continuity planning
- Plan capacity and hardware lifecycles
- Mitigate security risks
AI and systems integration
- Map and improve Renfrow's core systems integration (Vista, iSolved, FastPipe, Bluebeam)
- Design and deliver necessary integrations; bring solutions and recommendations
- Evaluate and help pilot AI tooling through assessment of cost, data privacy, and productivity gain
- Set practical AI governance: acceptable use, data handling, and where company information should and shouldn't go
Work Environment: Work is performed in both an office setting and at active construction sites. The Project Manager must be able to visit job sites, navigate uneven terrain, and observe field conditions.
Qualifications:
Required
- 7+ years in IT, including experience owning a function or major program
- Some level of management experience
- Experience managing an MSP or outsourced provider
- Multi-site infrastructure experience: networking, identity, endpoint management across locations
- Hands-on cloud migration experience
- Systems integration experience; APIs, data mapping, and an understanding of why integrations fail
- Ability to prioritize and explain solutions to non-technical leadership
Preferred
- Practical experience deploying AI tooling in a business setting
- Security and compliance depth ([relevant framework])
- Certifications: IT Technician will be an advantage (e.g. CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional)
What Success Looks Like
First 90 days: inventory of systems, sites, licenses, and vendor contracts complete; MSP performance assessed against current SLAs; top risks documented for leadership; support role scoped and posted. Existing projects reviewed and recommendations for next steps communicated.
