IT NETWORK ENGINEER

POSITION SUMMARY
The Network Engineer will manage and maintain the daily activities of local and wide area network infrastructure, perform network diagnostics, including monitoring and preventative maintenance. This role will have strong knowledge in network architecture and infrastructure and work with the Senior Network Engineer and IT Management to develop, implement, and support network infrastructure designs and projects. Responsibilities to include installation, administration, upgrading, maintenance and testing of network infrastructure hardware and software systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

QUALITY
Develops a high-level knowledge of the organization's technical environment and understands how systems are inter-related to be able to implement and support short-term and long-term IT Engineering projects on time and on budget.
Ensures that our network infrastructure remains reliable, and works within industry standards while assisting the Senior Network Engineer with developing, implementing and monitoring network security procedures for safeguarding all networking systems.
Maintains network management programs, perform network evaluations, prepare network status reports and assist/support other network related tasks/requirements as directed by IT management.
Replaces and upgrades network infrastructure and related systems, this includes but not limited to hardware, software and configurations.
Ensures each project and service or support encounter is a positive experience and is in the best interest of the patient, guest caller, and organization.
Assigns priority status and focus to patient care issues; communicates or reports incidents that may have had a negative impact or encounters that may have involve a patient safety; escalates technical incidents to vendor resources for technical issues that warrant priority response; plans and communicates ideas for improving service and support.

ACCESS
Assists with developing project pricing with vendors for network components and equipment for new implementations, upgrades or budget.
Ensures that remote access to organization systems follow security best practices including organizational policy and standards.

Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills, is well organized, has project leadership skills, and is willing and able to maintain multiple tasks simultaneously.
Maintains records of work completed and in-progress; and updates network documentation to record installations, upgrades, and configurations.
Collaborates with the Senior Network Engineer and others in a team environment, develops standard operating procedures, is a mentor to other IT staff, and is prepared to assist other team members as necessary by providing response to emergency work requests.
Is available and on-call to assist with trouble tickets as needed.

Seeks additional training as needed or required to remain an asset to the organization.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION
Associate Degree in Information Technology or related field

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
None

REQUIRED REGISTRATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Cisco Certified Technician
