IT Network Support Engineer – Contract Manufacturing
Location: On-site, Santa Clara / Hybrid

Position Summary:
We are looking for a technically skilled and well-organized IT Support Engineer to support our semiconductor manufacturing operations in North and South America. This position plays a dual role: managing third-party IT service providers, and coordinating with global IT teams across infrastructure (network, compute, storage), enterprise applications, databases, and factory system platforms.
In addition to strong coordination and communication abilities, the ideal candidate will bring hands-on technical knowledge in IT infrastructure, including networking, Windows/Linux system administration, endpoint protection, and security best practices. You will help ensure a secure, stable, and efficient IT environment for 24/7 factory operations.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and coordinate the work of third-party IT support personnel on-site, ensuring service quality and compliance with IT policies and factory safety requirements.
Serve as the primary on-site IT contact for factory users and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and coordination with remote/global IT teams across different domains (network, storage, applications, etc.).
Handle urgent tier-3 escalation with third-party IT about network connectivity, servers, client systems, and production tools.
Support day-to-day system operations, including user provisioning, hardware/software deployment, patch management, and incident resolution.
Work closely with global teams to maintain and support factory systems, MES, ERP, and other critical applications.
Perform basic network troubleshooting (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing) and escalate to specialized teams when needed.
Support and maintain Windows and Linux/Unix servers, ensuring system stability, performance, and security hardening.
Participate in routine tasks such as OS patching, endpoint protection, system monitoring, and inventory control.
Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and participate in security-related initiatives such as vulnerability remediation and endpoint management.
Assist with IT asset management, documentation, and audit readiness for local factory systems.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field—or equivalent hands-on experience.
Minimum 5+ years of IT support or system administration experience, preferably in a manufacturing or high-tech environment.
Solid understanding of basic networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching.
Experience with Windows and Unix/Linux system administration, including scripting, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
Familiarity with endpoint security tools, patch management, and hardening practices.
Experience working with or overseeing third-party service providers or contractors.
Energetic, strong can-do attitude and feel comfortable in speaking to both IT and non-IT personnel.
Ability to work independently on-site in a fast-paced, production-sensitive environment.
Experience with ITSM/ticketing platforms (e.g., ServiceNow), remote support tools, and documentation practices.
Familiarity with factory system environments such as MES, ERP, or production data systems is a strong advantage.

KEY SUMMARY:
Technical Knowledge:
50% – Networking knowledge (LAN, WAN, cabling, firewall, TCP/IP routing, etc.)
25% – Server, virtualization, storage, and Windows/Linux operating systems
25% – Security and audit knowledge

Soft Skills:
• Ability to drive and engage third-party IT teams to complete tasks remotely in accordance with IT standards
• Energetic, proactive, and possessing a strong "can-do” attitude; comfortable communicating with both IT and non-IT personnel

Remarks:
• As the environment is within the electronic manufacturing industry, a basic understanding of manufacturing application systems (e.g., MES, shop floor control) is desirable but not mandatory.
• This role is not intended for pure desktop support, application developers, or Windows administrators.
• The position is approximately 20% hands-on. Around 80% of the activities (e.g., configuration, setup, day-to-day support, troubleshooting, upgrade, monitoring) are handled by the factory third party IT team (e.g., Foxconn IT). Only initial setup or urgent critical escalation(s) / outage(s) will require this engineer's direct involvement
