Reporting directly to the Sr Director, CIO, the IT Operations Manager is a strategic and operational leader responsible for designing, securing, and maintaining the company’s core technology landscape.  The IT Operations Manager will manage the IT Operations and Client services team while ensuring high system availability, upholding strict cyber security standards, and cost-effective operations while delivering service, support, reliability, and performance; plan and oversees the research, evaluation and integration of new technology to meet the company’s strategic initiatives.

This position is part of the IT Operations & Client Services team, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and will be hybrid. 

In this role, a typical day will look like: 

  • Provide day to day leadership of IT Infrastructure team including prioritizing work, managing vendor relationships, change management, incident management, and problem solving.  Serve as the primary contact for internal and external customers, including the coordination of activities supporting the company’s technology strategies and projects.
  • Provide a high level of technical expertise in development and support of existing and future technology strategies for technology projects in support of business initiatives. This includes leading and participating in the system development lifecycle, including, but not limited to, the development of business requirements, analysis, design, development, documentation, implementation, testing, and debugging.
  • Oversee design, installation and maintenance of physical and cloud-based networks, storage, and servers, while ensuring high system reliability and strict cyber-security standards.
  • Manage help desk team to ensure prompt, reliable, friendly service and support.
  • Assist the CIO in aligning the IT technology roadmap with organization goals, delivering key projects on-time and under budget.
  • Develop, implement and maintain infrastructure technology documentation standards and benchmarks for performance monitoring.
  • Continually monitor X-Rite’s network security and keep all necessary parties informed of potential liabilities.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. Equivalent work experience is accepted
  • 5+ years of related experience in systems administration, network engineering, or related IT roles
  • Deep understanding of enterprise networks, virtualization, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), Microsoft, Cybersecurity protocols, BCP, FinOps, Artificial Intelligence (AI) required
  • Certifications a plus; ie: IT service operations, cloud architectures, advanced networking, strategic governance, Information Technology Library (ITIL), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Project Management Professional (PMP) and AWS/Microsoft cloud certification
  • Previous people management experience in an IT and manufacturing environment

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $120,000 - $130,000 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
