Position Summary
The IT Pharmacy Consultant is responsible for managing and supporting pharmacy applications, medication management systems, and clinical information systems across the organization. This individual will collaborate closely with pharmacy leadership, nursing departments, physicians, and IT teams to improve clinical workflows, enhance patient safety, and drive technology initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate organizational initiatives and develop systems and procedures that support strategic goals
- Partner with Pharmacy, Nursing, Emergency Department, and other clinical areas to identify technology needs and implement effective solutions
- Manage and support pharmacy applications and closed-loop medication management systems
- Oversee inpatient and ambulatory drug formularies within clinical systems
- Coordinate implementation, optimization, and maintenance of clinical applications
- Serve as the primary liaison between IT, Pharmacy, Nursing, Clinical Departments, Medical Staff, and Leadership
- Support clinical system projects, upgrades, integrations, and workflow improvements
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and patient safety requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- Current Ohio Pharmacist License
- Minimum of three (3) years of acute care and retail pharmacy experience
- Four (4) years of experience in systems administration, systems analysis/design, clinical systems, project management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory standards
- Experience supporting large enterprise clinical systems projects
- Epic certification and/or Epic implementation experience
- Strong organizational, analytical, and multitasking abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with clinical information systems and medication management technologies
- Knowledge of nursing operations and interdisciplinary clinical workflows
