IT Portfolio Manager New York, NY 6 Months Hybrid Schedule (Monday & Friday at home, Tuesday - Thursday at office) Home Office NYC. Pay: $90-120 per hour We are seeking a motivated IT Portfolio Manager to join our core enterprise technology team supporting ***s Strategic Businesses. This role will report to the Head of IT Operations and partner closely with line of business CIOs to shape, govern, and optimize the enterprise technology portfolio in alignment with our strategic roadmap. The focus will be on driving Technology, Data, and AI investment decisions, maximizing business value, and ensuring alignment across initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, enable growth, and improve customer outcomes. The candidate will play a pivotal role in managing the end-to-end technology portfolio, ensuring initiatives are prioritized, funded, and executed in a way that delivers measurable business impact. This includes supporting multiple lines of business across key areas such as AI enablement, data strategy, platform modernization, cybersecurity, and operating model transformation. The role requires strong strategic thinking, financial acumen, and cross-functional influence, rather than hands-on delivery management. The ideal candidate will bring an enterprise mindset, with the ability to engage senior technology and business leaders, balance competing priorities, and identify opportunities to drive synergies and scale across diverse insurance businesses. Key Responsibilities 1. Portfolio Strategy & Governance Manage and continuously evolve the multi-year, multi-business technology portfolio, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy and business priorities Drive portfolio prioritization, intake, and investment planning, balancing value, risk, and resource capacity Support CIOs and business leaders in translating strategy into actionable technology roadmaps Maintain our multi-year, multi-business technology roadmap in alignment with our technology Client, business objectives, and stakeholder priorities. Identify opportunities to drive standardization, reuse, and scalability across platforms and solutions Stay informed on emerging technologies (e.g., AI, data platforms) and assess their impact on portfolio strategy Establish and monitor governance frameworks to ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment across initiatives Identify and manage interdependencies across programs to optimize sequencing and outcomes 2. Value Realization & Performance Management Define and track KPIs and success metrics to measure portfolio performance and business impact Partner with finance and business stakeholders to evaluate investment cases, track benefits realization, and optimize spend Provide regular portfolio-level insights and reporting to senior leadership, highlighting risks, trade-offs, and opportunities Ensure portfolio and program financials and benefits are clearly understood and closely tracked for performance. Drive continuous improvement in portfolio management processes, tools, and reporting frameworks 3. Stakeholder & Executive Engagement Serve as a strategic liaison across Strategic Businesses IT, individual business units, and corporate technology teams Facilitate executive-level discussions on priorities, trade-offs, and investment decisions Influence alignment across stakeholders to ensure cohesive execution of enterprise-wide initiatives Prepare and deliver clear, concise portfolio updates to senior leadership Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., PMP, Agile, Scrum Master) are a plus. 5-8 years of experience managing and delivering technology projects in Insurance / Financial Services. Strong PowerPoint skills and ability to turn data into exec level visualizations Highly proficient in AI prompting to assist in productivity using tools such as ChatGPT, MS Copilot, Gemini, and Claude . Strong technical understanding of software development, IT infrastructure, and AI emerging technologies. Product owner and business analyst experience are a plus Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment. Strong interest and curiosity in technology innovation, AI tools, and designing more efficient ways to work. Expertise in tools such as Jira, MS Office 360, or similar.
