We have been exclusively engaged by a well-established, privately held organization recognized as a national leader in its niche retail and distribution industry. The company is in the midst of a multi-year digital transformation spanning eCommerce modernization, enterprise application enhancements, systems integrations, and workflow automation across the business.
This is a strong opportunity for an IT Project Manager who enjoys bringing structure to a busy technology environment. The organization has a large portfolio of internal technology initiatives, including application modernization, SaaS implementations, integrations, e-commerce enhancements, product information workflows, and platform upgrades. The right person will step into meaningful work quickly and help move projects from idea to delivery with more clarity, consistency, and momentum.
This is a direct-hire role based in the Downingtown, PA area. The position is hybrid, with an expectation of working onsite approximately three days per week.
The Role You’ll Play
As the IT Project Manager, you will own multiple concurrent software and enterprise application projects from early intake and discovery through delivery, testing, and go-live. This is a true PM/BA hybrid role. You will not simply manage schedules from a distance. You will work directly with business stakeholders to clarify needs, gather requirements, document scope, coordinate IT resources, manage risks, and ensure delivered solutions meet the business need.
This role is important because the IT organization has a significant project portfolio and needs another experienced project manager who can bring practical structure, clear communication, and steady follow-through across a mix of small, medium, and larger internal initiatives.
Own and lead multiple concurrent IT projects from discovery through delivery.
Serve as a primary point of contact for business stakeholders during project intake, requirement clarification, scope confirmation, and project execution.
Manage projects involving new application builds, system integrations, platform migrations, software implementations, and enterprise application updates.
Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, risk and issue logs, dependency tracking, status updates, and project documentation.
Plan and sequence work based on project scope, priorities, available resources, and business timelines.
Coordinate cross-functional teams that may include IT architecture, software development, QA, business stakeholders, product owners, and external vendors.
Proactively identify, communicate, and resolve risks, issues, dependencies, business blockers, and resource conflicts.
Facilitate project meetings, manage project communications, and keep stakeholders aligned on progress, milestones, decisions, and next steps.
Tailor project management practices, templates, and communication style based on project size, complexity, and delivery approach.
Partner with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document business needs, requirements, workflows, business rules, functional requirements, and acceptance criteria.
Analyze current-state and future-state business processes through interviews, workshops, process mapping, and gap analysis.
Support testing activities by helping define test cases, coordinating with QA, and validating that delivered solutions meet approved requirements.
Adapt to changing priorities while clearly communicating the impact on timelines, resource allocation, project plans, and dependencies.
Background Profile:
The ideal candidate is a mid-level IT Project Manager with real project management experience in a software, enterprise application, SaaS, or systems environment. This person should be comfortable operating in an environment that is still maturing its project management structure, where flexibility and good judgment matter as much as methodology. A strong fit will be organized, practical, communicative, and capable of working directly with both business and technical teams.
3-5 years of technical project management experience
Experience managing software, enterprise applications, SaaS, integration, platform migration, or application modernization projects.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, typically across a mix of small, medium, and larger initiatives.
Hands-on experience with project intake, requirements gathering, scope confirmation, planning, execution, testing support, delivery, and go-live.
Working knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall delivery approaches, with the flexibility to match the methodology to the project.
Strong business analysis skills, including stakeholder interviews, process mapping, documentation of workflows, functional requirements, business rules, use cases, and acceptance criteria.
Ability to create and maintain project schedules, status reports, risk logs, issue logs, dependency trackers, and project artifacts.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work across IT, business stakeholders, vendors, QA, architecture, and development teams.
Ability to bring organization and visibility to a busy project portfolio without overcomplicating the process.
Preferred:
Experience with e-commerce, retail, product information management, digital asset management, product ingestion, inventory, order management, or marketing technology projects.
Experience with PIM, DAM, ERP, Salesforce, marketing automation platforms, VTEX, Oracle EBS, or custom order management systems.
Experience with PM tools such as Smartsheet, ClickUp, Planview, Jira, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
Experience in music, education, publishing, retail, distribution, or e-commerce-driven environments is a plus.
