Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for an IT Software Engineer 4.
The work will be done hybrid onsite in Chicago, IL, with an expectation of being in the office three days per week (MondayFriday) and a planned transition to full onsite in the future. This is a long-term 12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to approximately $100/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
Cullerton Group is seeking a senior-level IT Software Engineer to support enterprise application development and test automation initiatives. This role focuses on designing, developing, and enhancing scalable software and automation frameworks that support continuous integration and delivery. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into high-quality technical solutions. This position is ideal for a highly experienced engineer who enjoys technical ownership, mentoring, and working in complex enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain software solutions and automation frameworks
Extend and enhance test automation frameworks to support CI/CD pipelines
Develop automated test cases and strategies aligned with business requirements and acceptance criteria
Perform API, integration, and end-to-end system testing across enterprise platforms
Collaborate with product owners, developers, and QA teams to resolve defects and improve system quality
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
8+ years of professional experience in software engineering or test automation
Strong experience with Java and behavior-driven development frameworks (Cucumber, JBehave, or similar)
Extensive experience designing and maintaining automation test frameworks
Experience testing REST APIs, web services, and full-stack applications
Ability to write and execute SQL queries for data validation and testing
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter
Exposure to cloud technologies (AWS preferred)
Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Git
Experience working in Agile development environments
Strong mentoring skills and experience supporting junior engineers
