Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for an IT Software Engineer 4 – AI Architect for Testing. The work will be done hybrid in Chicago, IL, with onsite presence required 3 days per week (eventual transition to full onsite expected). This is a long-term 12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $106/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
Cullerton Group is seeking an AI Architect to lead the strategy, design, and implementation of AI-enabled testing solutions within a large-scale enterprise software environment. This role will focus on improving software quality, testing efficiency, defect analysis, and automation capabilities across the SDLC and CI/CD lifecycle. The engineer will work closely with QA, DevOps, developers, product teams, and data teams to integrate AI, GenAI, and intelligent automation into testing workflows and enterprise quality engineering practices. This is an exciting opportunity to shape next-generation AI-driven testing architecture and quality engineering strategies in a highly visible organization.
Key Responsibilities
• Define and lead the AI strategy and architecture for enterprise software testing and quality engineering initiatives
• Design and implement AI-enabled frameworks for functional, API, UI, performance, and security testing
• Identify opportunities to improve testing activities using AI technologies such as defect prediction, test case generation, root cause analysis, intelligent regression selection, and test data generation
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, development, and product teams to integrate AI solutions into CI/CD and software delivery workflows
• Evaluate and recommend AI/ML, GenAI, automation, and observability tools for enterprise testing environments
• Create scalable architectures integrating LLMs, test repositories, defect systems, observability tools, and CI/CD platforms
• Define KPIs and metrics to measure AI testing effectiveness, automation coverage, release quality, and defect reduction
• Mentor QA engineers and SDETs on AI-assisted testing and automation practices
• Support governance, security, explainability, privacy, and responsible AI usage standards
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field
• 8+ years of experience in software testing, QA automation, quality engineering, or test architecture
• 3+ years designing or implementing AI/ML or GenAI-based enterprise solutions
• Strong understanding of SDLC/STLC methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and quality engineering practices
• Experience with AI technologies including LLMs, NLP, prompt engineering, AI agents, workflow automation, and retrieval-augmented generation concepts
• Hands-on experience with Python, Java, JavaScript, SQL, and automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, JUnit, TestNG, or PyTest
• Experience integrating with platforms such as Jira, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Jenkins, or GitLab
• Strong architecture, communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience building AI copilots or AI assistants for QA/testing organizations
• Familiarity with vector databases, MLOps, or LLMOps concepts
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud platforms
• Experience with DevOps concepts, CI/CD pipelines, Git, or microservices architectures
• Experience with load/performance testing and observability/log analysis tools
• Experience working within Agile/Lean development teams
• Certifications in AI/ML, cloud technologies, enterprise architecture, or testing frameworks preferred
