Definition of Class

  • This position installs, operates, monitors, supports, and troubleshoots computer equipment and related peripherals for all Court and Court related offices. This position works with the System Operator and Network Administrator and reports to the Courts IT Director.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides end user support including hardware and application maintenance and assistance for the Court and Court related offices.
  • Installing, upgrading and maintaining a variety of computers, printers and other related hardware.
  • Act as a liaison between end users and hardware\software vendors.
  • Troubleshoots and acts as a liaison with the imaging software and vendor.
  • Coordinates support, assists with testing, and acts as a backup for the video-conferencing equipment.
  • Assists with technology courtroom testing and presentations.
  • Maintains Courts Computer Bureau inventory.
  • Implement proper tape rotation cycle for daily and weekly IBM system backups.
  • Installs and maintains UPS (battery backup) systems.
  • Assists with Court COOP (Continuity of Operations Plan) implementation.
  • Participates in training offered by vendors and professional associations.
  • Assists in preparation of end user and procedural documentation.
  • Performs specific duties assigned by the Courts IT Director.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Experience with Windows PC operating systems
  • Familiar with imaging applications and software
  • Able to utilize video-conference equipment
  • Ability to liaison with technical support
  • Ability to analyze and solve computer related problems
  • Knowledge of the user of various network and computer diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to conduct research into emerging technologies
  • Ability to take direction and make decisions with minimal supervision.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Information Technology or related field
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a computer support technician, OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience
  • Experience with end user/help desk support
  • Familiarity with Microsoft desktop productivity suites and applications.
  • Knowledge of current Windows operating systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Court and Court related offices
  • Exposure to virtual technology\VMware
  • Experience with disaster recovery\COOP
  • Experience with system rollouts
