As a IT SPECIALIST at the GS-2210-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Resolve Combined Joint Warfighter C2 secure data sharing, data interoperability and integration requirements and gaps.
  • Reviews technical and operational architectures to support secure data sharing and overall technical design of enterprise.
  • Develop new and review and update existing processes, procedures, plans, policy and guidance for the combined joint warfighter.
  • Participate in/or support prototype or experiment designs as well assess prototypes and experiments advancing secure data sharing.
  • Assess and develop recommendations regarding Department of Defense, Joint and Multinational organizations prototypes, or experiments to determine how well they satisfy Department of Defense, Joint and Multinational data interoperability and integrations, secure data sharing, and digital modernization needs.
  • Technical and Thought Leadership in the following CORE COMPETENCIES, as defined/described in OPM Guidelines for 2210 series: Application Software, Application/System Reengineering, Data and Content Management, Enterprise Architecture, Information Technology Policy Planning, Information Technology Systems Analysis.

CORE COMPETENCIES

Application Software: Design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation, and support of new or existing application software. Develop software solutions which provide integrated information management and information technology capabilities to meet specified warfighter and business requirements.

Data and Content Management: Monitor, develop and implement plans, policies, programs, and processes to enhance the value of data and information assets.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS -14 , if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:

  • Expert knowledge of combined, joint warfighting operationally and technical needs across all domains and all echelons to develop material (technical) and non-material data interoperability and integration.
  • Expert knowledge in Command, Department of Defense and Joint Staff goals and objectives to initiate and carry out work assignments, security procedures, resolve conflicts, and coordinate partnerships.
  • Providing requirements, architectures, strategies, roadmaps, guidelines, procedures, and assessments for the combined, joint warfighter dedicated for digital modernization.
  • Researching and solving technical and non-material challenges, recommending solutions based on a professional knowledge of information technology, policy, and requirements to develop, improve, and update Joint Staff (sea, air, land, maritime) in meetings and conferences.

Mission Statement: The Joint Staff J6, Deputy Director for Command and Control, Computer, Communication/Cyber (C5) Integration, Architecture Integration Division (AID) is responsible for development of Warfighting Mission Area (WMA) integrated architectures and to provide a comprehensive, discoverable, accessible, reusable, and authoritative database accessible to the Department of Defense (DoD) Enterprise for architecture development and analysis, joint mission thread development from the tactical to strategic level, and architecture analysis support for capability development, assessments, acquisition and Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) processes.
