Under general direction of the FPS Director, responsible for leadership and management of technology and data projects. Provide technical oversight, management, strategic planning, and analytical support to the Director, managers (lab, field, and office), supervisors and staff of the Center. Lead and organize data management regarding all plant material, disease testing, inventory of material and distribution and fulfillment of orders. Analyze data to provide actionable information regarding plant status, order status, order trends and health of all plants. Provide administrative and infrastructure computing support, including critical management of the FPS database and business software. Conduct recruitment and selection, evaluation, training and supervision of information technology staff and serves as a member of the management team. Manage, plan, staff, organize and direct the operations of the Center's information systems, including the FPS database and multiple websites maintained by the department. Lead and facilitate change with order fulfillment and distribution of plant material. Lead, coordinate and identify risks to determine, develop and implement technology-related policies, plans, and operational procedures to assure the protection, confidentiality, integrity, and availability of institutional information and IT Resources.

Department Overview
Foundation Plant Services (FPS) is a self-supporting service center in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at UC Davis whose primary function is to produce, maintain, and distribute virus-tested plant materials of deciduous fruit and nut trees, grapevines, berries, sweet potatoes and roses for research and public commercial use. FPS also operates the National Grapevine Importation Program through which grape germplasm is imported, tested for disease, and made available for public distribution. FPS manages 100-200 acres of fields and nursery in and around Davis containing over 35,000 plants. This position supervises and directs an application development team as well as department-wide system administration/desktop support.
